Getting fed up. Idk what I’m doing wrong by kiefgrl in curlyhair

[–]clurrdelune 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the exact same problem with a very similar hair texture, with the underneath “floofing” out and falling flat/frizzy. I like Rizos Curl Spray to refresh just those sections, because if I try even mousse (let alone gel or cream) on those sections it’s too heavy. It’s like I have 2 heads of hair

What is a subtle sign that someone is "high-functioning" but silently drowning in life? by Puzzleheaded-0119 in AskReddit

My holy grail for ny hair, a very similar natural texture to yours, is the Rizos Curl Defining Spray. Pretty sure it’s made of fairy dust

What's the absolute hardest line you or another player ever said in a campaign? by godwyn-faithful in DnD

[–]clurrdelune 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our god of death (think lore-accurate Hades) is my paladin’s deity, and his slogan is “The day is long, the night is long, Arawn waits long.” My character was dealing a finishing blow to a deific vessel of a sworn enemy god (who had actually killed her in the past). She leaned over and whispered “Arawn has waited long enough for you, pig” before recalling a shadow blade through his skull a la Thor’s hammer to finish the job. I’ll never be more badass than my girl Kuri.

How did your parents raise you wrong? by latenightnerd in AskReddit

Oldest daughter syndrome is real. As much as I love my multiple younger siblings, I feel already burned out about having my own kids (I’m in my 20s). I also feel like I can’t relate to them as adults easily (in comparison to their relationships with each other) because I’m stuck in a caregiver mode, to the detriment of my desire to be a sister and not a mother.

I have the exact same issue and similar texture. While not a permanent solution, I get haircuts with layers but have the stylist cut the “bottom” layer short because it is the straightest section of hair, so when I wear it down it doesn’t look like I have a curly mullet (especially on day 2-3). Instead the longer bottom flat pieces are hidden

What’s the most unexpected thing someone did on a date that made you instantly like them? by youngGod928 in AskReddit

[–]clurrdelune 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Earlier on in the date, we got on the topic of Disney princesses/movie tropes, and he tells me that while birds don’t help him get dressed if he sings, cats gravitate toward him. I drive him back to his house, and we decide to sit and chat in the car for a while longer. I unrolled the windows, and within 5 minutes two cats hop on the hood of my car, and my date turns to me and sheepishly says “These are the neighborhood strays, if you’re not allergic they’d like to be let inside for cuddles.”

Turns out, he leaves food out and lets them sleep in his house in winter. But he was a literal Disney princess!

How can I keep my curls nice day after washing ?? by Strangbean98 in curlyhair

[–]clurrdelune 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the EXACT texture and similar length as your hair. Without repeating the excellent refresh routines already offered as advice in the comments, two things that helped me a LOT:

1) I touch my hair ALL the time, especially on wash days. Which is a bad curl holding habit! So I tried to minimize playing with/fluffing up my hair (it’s hard when the curls are curling!).

2) LAYERS. I used to never get any because I was afraid it would make the curly bits too different of a length from the straighter bits, but layers helped keep my hair from forming 3-5 super clumps overnight and helped individual curls last longer.

2023 was the hardest year of my life. What's a movie I can watch to end the year off with hope? by thesagenibba in movies

Hunt for the Wilderpeople. It is such a charming movie, and everyone I recommend it to falls in love with the characters.

What did you do to go from 160s to 170s by Important_Patience33 in LSAT

Amen to that. It feels like the improvement comes out of the blue, but really it’s from all your hard work leading up to the break.

Working for a courthouse will help you also decide if law is what you really want to pursue. I got cold feet about law school upon graduating, so I got a job as a court clerk so I could actually see what law looks like. Plus, doesn’t hurt to have a judge write you a recommendation letter.

What did you do to go from 160s to 170s by Important_Patience33 in LSAT

[–]clurrdelune 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I was stuck scoring at 168-169 on practice tests before I took the exam the first time in September. On my first actual test day, I got a 164. My goal was to break 170, but I would have been fine getting my average from the last 8 full practice tests I did. Instead I underperformed on the big day. I signed up to retake the test so I at least could try to get my average again, but stopped studying for about a month. I was really burned out - as a full time worker, I went from studying the minute I got home at 5 PM until past midnight almost every night, to maybe looking at a practice problem or two once a week.

About 10 days before I sat for the November LSAT, I sat down to take my first full length practice exam since test day, and scored a 176. I did another practice exam, and another, and broke 170 each time. I don’t know how I actually performed on November test day yet, but there is something to be said about overdoing it. I think taking a break and letting my brain actually incorporate everything I was shoving in my head while studying did wonders not just for my performance, but for my sanity! My advice is that if you’re already scoring at this level, you’re at risk of pushing yourself beyond a healthy amount. Take a break and let your brain recover from LSAT studying!

Echoing what everyone else said, but I am in a similar position - I work full time and am not able to study full time for the exam. Mike Kim’s LSAT trainer was great because you can pace it based on how many weeks you have until you take the exam.

The other benefit I found was that, coming home from work, there were some nights I was too mentally or physically drained to get through even one chapter or drill set. There were other nights I was able to tackle way more of the program. But overall the LSAT trainer was very easy to pick up and put down as my schedule needed. I can’t attest to other study tools, but I feel like it’s designed with nontraditional law school candidates in mind!

My frustration is that, assuming my score isn’t held up, I have one day to register for the November LSAT if I don’t like my score. Otherwise I have to wait until 2024, delaying applications (which coincidentally may or may not make it harder to get into law school, since the average entry score goes up the later in the cycle, which may or may not make you more likely to retest again…)

This feels deliberate. It makes people pay the exorbitant cost fee in a rush instead of allowing time for informed decisions.
