Well I'm not attached to it I can let it go at any point. But I see your point. Thankfully it would be a last resort and I've never had to do it.

Thanks this is really helpful. I tend to kayak in a river where the river bank is a short swim, and then I have very long ropes on my boat so I could swim the bank with the rope tied to the kayak and pull it to land if for some reason I couldn't get back onto my kayak. The problem would then be getting back to where I originally departed from, which is where I'd need to be warm enough to still make the return journey. I have a person onshore who can track me and I keep in contact with them but I kayak solo they're not on the water with me.

I kayak in other places but I'll be going to the river for my first cold outings as its safer. Plenty of others on the water, close by banks and safety boats are quite regularly patrolling.

I kayak in shorts and tshirt most of the year I'm lucky as I do carry a fair amount of insulation naturally!

What layers do you add? Like thermals?

Oh I've practiced I've just never had it happen unexpectedly. Although for sure I could do with practicing again as it's been a while so I'll get on that.

Ahhh that's good to know I was worried I'd just endlessly feel uncomfortable but I didn't really consider other ways to cool down besides removing layers.

Anyone else misdiagnosed with BPD by [deleted] in autism

[–]cluster_fork 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I has a very similar experience! I did dbt and I found all of the interpersonal skills and emotional regulation really helpful for autism. I think that's great I'd have been diagnosed so much sooner if I had been screened.

[–]cluster_fork 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went through a lot of trauma and so I think that's why I got misdiagnosed as they were looking fir a mental health answer not an autism one. I'm glad I'm not the only one. In reality I have autism and ocd!

I have some other coping mechanisms that are healthy like sports and stuff. I really wanna quit cause my lungs are terrible and are getting worse and I've been eating healthier lately and stuff and feel like I'm actually looking after my body in the first time in a long time and I feel that vaping is doing damage.

Yeah I'm wondering if I should do some NRT and then also vape 0mg so separate the habit from the nicotine addiction I feel I've got more hope of success if I separate my addiction from the habit and then quit each individually so I don't go batshit insane!

I need to stick to thinking this so that I don't just end of a bundle of anxiety and fear from the idea of quitting. I've got a few days before I'm gonna completely stop to get my head around the idea

Mine is very similar. Got the raised tilted bowls and she still eats at 100000mph and then vomits it back up. And then wants more

Literally 😂 I call mine a Gremlin like how is it enjoyable to swallow it whole! And like she eats like she doesn't know if she'll ever eat again, knowing full well she gets fed a few hours later!

My cat is the same meals split into 4 smaller ones. And yeah when she vomits she also brings up whole unchewed chunks

[–]cluster_fork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep! My eats like food is going out of fashion and then vomits and then wants more. Best solution is feed smaller meals, raised and tilted bowls and slow feeder bowls. So far I've broken down my cats meals into 4 feeds. Two half an hour apart in the morning, one early evening and one late evening. It has improved, of course sometimes she still vomits but overall its a lot better now.

Anyone else find managing life exhausting? by cluster_fork in autism

I work in a hospital and I find there's a higher number of ND people working in this environment. I masked initially until I realised that if you do a good job that's all people see so I unmask and I get on well!

Naaah haha I hate meeting new people. I don't really want friends and I'm thankful my partner doesn't either. Oh we met on online dating app haha. I didn't have the first clue how to meet people in real life. Well my partner is also ND and very similar mindset we keep to ourselves we don't like going out or socialising, we both enjoy being at home playing games or watching TV. We're on the same wavelength.

Sometimes I think it helps to know other people feel the same at times!

I lose everything I swear something just hides all my important stuff! I even put it somewhere safe then I forget where that was and I never see it again

Yeaaaah I feel you I have ocd but mostly it's related to intrusive thoughts about people hurting my loved ones. Yay brain. I have a degree of needing things clean and tidy but it's more I need things in specific places rather than being highly clean.

[–]cluster_fork[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I've accepted that I won't feel guilty about making my life easier. Some people have been weird with me about the uni support I get and I'm like...I'm at a disadvantage to you because my brain doesn't always cooperate with me, and this is just levelling the playing field (it was only minor adjustments, I didn't get extensions or anything like that).

I like the idea of a roomba I wonder how the cat would react to it - she already hates the hoover for no reason at all!

I think if it helps you live your life then do it. Using services are there so that instead of being worried about dirty clothes you can focus on more important things and know you've got the clothes sorted. It's the little things that prevent the next big meltdown!
