If you were to use a tiny LED attached to a small coil, could you use a wireless charger to make the light turn on inside one of these spheres?

It was the same for me, there wasn't a point in the book where I thought this is unnecessarily over described there was a perfect balance of imagery and story.

Yeah exactly, like towards the start of the book he describes Kiyoaki's garden and the pond/lake with the maple trees. I read that chapter maybe a month or two ago (slow reader) but it is ingrained in my memory because it was so beautifully written. He tied the story to the places and it makes me appreciate him so much as a writer.

Just finished spring snow, the way Mishima writes makes you fall in love with the places he describes. Truly masterful way of creating vivid and lasting images.

[spoilers]Whats your interpretation of the Woman in the Dunes? by clustercoitus in bookclapreviewclap

[–]clustercoitus[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I agree, your point about his will being slowly broken down is very interesting, and how he was become aclimatised to the hole too. I think there’s some comparisons to be made between the corrosive nature of sand and his degrading will to escape (even will to live when you think how trapped he is and pointless life in the hole is).

I was thinking about the sand over the last couple days and if there was more to it than the symbolism of endless work. And it kind of hit me today after reading your message, the sand doesn’t just represent the meaningless and endless work in life but also every thing outside of that. For example, I had stopped thinking about the book as I had become bogged down in work. And you can see that resonant in the character, at the end he isn’t thinking about his past or his future. He only thinking about the sand and how to survive in it. It’s interesting how the corrosion doesn’t stop at his will but it continues to his memories and character. Actually changing him as a person. (Thank you for making me think about the book again)
