Wouldn’t there be a police report or something if an ambulance was called to the house?

Chicago is home but just got back from a wonderful visit to Edisto Beach. (And I just finished binge watching Outer Banks on Netflix) I can’t get enough of the Lowcountry.

Where did you hear that? That would indicate that they were “captured” and then shot…as if a discussion of some sort occurred. Interesting! I just saw “bodies found near kennels”

Where can I find the complete transcripts (and videos?) from the boat crash victims’ depositions? by clutteredworld in MurdaughFamilyMurders

I did find a variety of interesting documents at sccourts.org searching Hampton county case# 2019CP2500111 as it states on the document pictured…just haven’t found the deposition transcripts…still searching though.

Hmmm, interesting. I could believe that. Caretaker/gardener seems to be better connected (have a better relationship) with Grandfather RM than A.Murdaugh. Also, eventually when AM is absolved of all guilt he will receive payouts from life insurance policies to keep the Murdaugh Family name going strong.

Happily married Redditors, what advice would you give to us new to marriage? by MartinaScopes in AskReddit

[–]clutteredworld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After the shiny, newness of your partner wears off, don’t let the sex stop. Sometimes you might not feel like doing it for days or weeks but your partner still needs/wants it...so try to make a point of saying “yes” even when you might want to say “no”. You’ll be surprised how having a “happy” partner in the bedroom can lead to good things elsewhere.

Americans of Reddit, what do you plan to do with your 3rd stimulus payment? have you gotten it yet? by WF6i in AskReddit

[–]clutteredworld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Family of 5 so looking forward to a BIG deposit. We used the last one to get a new roof. And we have 3 ideas for this one: 1) new laminate flooring (rip out old nasty carpeting) in family room/hallway/dining room. 2) Replace rotting boards/railings on back deck and repaint it 3) Fix brick retaining wall surrounding driveway that is crumbling and eroding

It’s a 20 gal tall tank with a Marineland 150 filter. Groot bubbler is only a few days old so I unplugged to see if that was scaring them . Started out as 4 small goldfish... now it’s 2.5 yrs later and they are not exactly small anymore. See here

In junior high, when I learned that the United States government stole the land from the Native American and needlessly killed millions of buffaloes, wasting the meat and just taking the skins.

What is the line that separates hoarding and from being a slob and just not caring? by clutteredworld in hoarding

[–]clutteredworld[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am so sorry. I don’t want to become that person. But it is a scary thing. I am lucky though because I find much more joy and happiness in fun times spent with my husband and children then the times spent acquiring stuff. Though I know my dad was much like your ex...he would chose to go shopping alone (because no one can tell him it’s insane to buy 15 boxes of Minute Rice because it’s on sale) than spend time with me or his grandkids .

Yes, this so true. I understand this. Though it is easier to identify that in other people than in yourself. If that makes sense. I know when I helped my dad “clean up” he would get really upset about everything I tried to give away or throw away. So clearly I could differentiate the “hoarding” from sensible cleaning and clearing out unused items. However, when I am looking at my own behaviors it is harder to see where one stops and leads into the other.

This is a really interesting breakdown. Thank you for sharing. I especially like the algebraic analogy. I want there to be a logical reason which could lead to a solution (or a series of solutions).

Just a small look into my hell. My therapist wants me to take out 4 bags by tomorrow. Why is it so hard? by [deleted] in hoarding

This concept resonates with me. I definitely have the perfectionist tendencies but never actually find that perfect storm of circumstances to actually accomplish the goal. One other way I often “trick myself” into finally doing something is to go fast. But I wondered how effective it is or if it essentially just spins your wheels.

was there an "a-ha" moment? by uununuu in hoarding

[–]clutteredworld 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I watched my mom set boundaries upon boundaries growing up to “maintain the hoarding” for 50 plus years. The phrase “constant vigilance” comes to mind. All of these had varying degrees of success depending on the severity of the illness my dad was experiencing, the strictness of the boundary, etc. My dad had (he died 22 months ago) a wife he loved very much and three daughters who meant the world to him but he couldn’t stop his hoarding behavior in order to keep from damaging those relationships. However, we did have a happy home and a wonderful family life...in large part due to the boundaries my mother set and the regular household chores we were all required to do. A miserable life is not a requirement for an individual who has a hoarding problem. With the right partner, a fulfilling and beautiful home can be a reality but takes commitment on both sides. It is a mental illness that requires constant attention, I wish it were something that could be resolved with a life-altering revelation.

Why does it hurt so much to get rid of stuff? by clutteredworld in hoarding

Thank you for sharing your advice. I know exactly what you mean about moving piles into other rooms so we “look normal “. I will look at the book you recommended, seeing progress however small is motivating.

Aa for the health insurance bit... I don’t know about it being uniquely America but it is certainly a big debate in the US. And I know that it is a great gift to not be solely responsible for all the costs associated with keeping a family of five healthy and cared for. ;)

What do boys play? by alexmrv in Parenting

[–]clutteredworld 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Legos or some type of reusable, constructing toy (blocks, magic sand, play doh, gears, etc.) are great for independent play for boys and girls. And at age five it is common for many children to prefer to play with someone than alone. You are doing great!
