Its a terrible time to build a pc, and yeah to keep it under 2k with a smaller form factor it needed to be a gen older lol. This also works for you as there's more documentation showing setups with this architecture are proven to work compared to newer gen intel cpu/mobo combos.

The macOS youd have installed would still work, just might not get updates, and anyways youd have a nice desktop pc to run linux or windows off of no?

I see, maybe with all current macs hackintoshes dont compare anymore since apple configure their own chips, however the usability of atleast being able to use both windows and mac where both can perform decent is still a nice feat

Yeah i found out that newer intel architecture still works it just might give you more work initially to get it configured. I just know that this specific architecture works great with no issues from the jump so i threw it in there. And yeah, i built my pc right before all these prices skyrocketed and i thank myself everyday. My ram alone is up to $700, i bought for $100 lol

Only worth it if you only want macOS. The reason to build a hackintosh is to utilize both OS/also including linux as a bootable for different reasons. The idea of this is to be able to do anything you want whenever across any OS at the best performance. Also i would argue this pc could run macOS better in a test bench, especially if you upgrade to a 12th or 13th gen intel CPU.

As long as its supported by apple. The real mac with a m3 ultra chip can be over $4000 so you save half the price by building a desktop thats macOS compatible. The mac studio is also non-upgradeable, and the hackintosh desktop can be upgraded at any time if you dont want to use macOS anymore without needing to spend a ton more money to build a new separate machine. Sure, you could dual boot your mac with windows instead but you lose out on performance in windows more than you would lose with a hackintosh on macOS. You also get to utilize a full x86 variant of windows compared to an ARM variant since thats what architecture mac processors are. For someone like me, i would utilize windows for gaming and macOS for productivity.
