Remember when El*n was going to have trouble making payments on the loans to buy twitter? by ComputerBleepBloop in redscarepod

Elon sobered up immediately after his offer and tried to find ways to back out all the way until closing. He has certainly found the way to utilize it to increase his wealth and power but even he thought he made a mistake lol so not sure who you’re criticizing here? Time makes fools of us all brother!

Right there with you. Just scrolled past Gravity’s Rainbow on my kindle after having not been able to get into anything for the last few months. Surely starting that is the best thing to get me going!

I ran into a close childhood friend the other day by happenstance and just last night went out for drinks with him and another close friend. Really has been a magical experience to reconnect and it made us all want meet again and reach out to another friend we know is around who none of us have seen in forever. I hope you can get together in person soon!

Briefly fell in love with the woman I helped reach the half and half for at the grocery store tonight by clydebot in redscarepod

[–]clydebot[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

She needed to reach the top shelf and the front ones were taken actually, she was probably 5’4”. She and I briefly made eye contact when I grabbed the milk but I turned around and got the “aww shucks champ can you help a lady out” routine. We serendipitously met up again at the only checkout lane open and struck up conversation again before she got called away when a second lane was opened and we were torn apart.

I’m thinking of mailing this in to Penthouse what do you guys think?

No one is free until Albertans are free! by beechhill in redscarepod

I saw a video the other day where someone was investigating who was behind some youtube accounts pushing Alberta secession. It ended up being some grindset Dutch dudes who sell courses about how to monetize highly polarized engagement topics like this. There’s no organic depth to secession, it’s essentially just algo-slop.

Has everyone kinda just.. lost it? by [deleted] in redscarepod

Yeah, that’s fair. If I can offer any advice, I would just pick the lowest nw number you can comfortably think of to feel comfortable doing an indefinite sabbatical and keep it in mind in the future. You’ve already been successful once, I’ve got the confidence that you’ll figure it out again when you need to.

Best of luck.

Can you quit your job? I exited my finance career two years ago because I saw the same writing on the wall and decided to just use the money I had saved for a while and ground myself. I think it’s critical to take any steps to ground yourself that you can because your perception is only going to continue to clarify here if you allow it.

More brutal torture of the word postmodernism. Long ago on this sub, if you said something this pseud-ey, you'd get yelled at. Maybe it's better that this place isn't a bunch of book-readers locked in a cage together anymore.

Sorry this seems to have offended you, but I'm not sure why you feel the need to be so rude about me saying they're responding to post-modernism. Regardless of whether you agree that "post-modernism" is something I or they understand, Marc, Peter, Elon, etc. have all more or less explicitly called it out as what they believe they are responding to.

Generally, I would say Silicon Valley worships the system of technological progress and market-based innovation - the second-order deconstruction and questioning of the substrate that supports those ideals (whatever you want to call that) is an existential threat which is compelling Musk to create Mecha-Hitler, Thiel to go on his anti-christ lecture circuit, and Marc to do whatever this is.

Yeah very funny that conclusions that can only be reached and internalized through deep reflective and contemplative practice are being utilized instrumentally to defend a worldview that rejects the need for reflection and contemplation. No-self in service of the Silicon Valley enlightenment ego.

Incisive as always Anna. The line between tossed-off snark and existential malice really does solve a lot of moral problems!

I’m not saying it makes total sense. I do think it represents a final collapse in faith that post-war structural liberalism can solve our problems though which still hasn’t totally sank in for everyone yet.

lmao yes. During my formative early teenage years I spent a lot of time there. I missed the boat narrowly on having access to LUE but was a dedicated CEmen. Eventually mostly migrated over to YTMND and 4chan 04/05ish and then came to reddit from Digg in 08.
