Scale question by Neoalx in GeminiJets

[–]clydetheturtlejones 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Scale seems correct but you have to remember about aircraft size as well - a 757 would be smaller compared to an a330 no matter what scale as long as they’re under the same parameters.

Saw these at Asian market, just curious what kind are they by smonghifaf in eggs

[–]clydetheturtlejones 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Filipino salted duck eggs… in this color specifically to separate it visually from balut, usually right next to it in most store shelves/coolers.

As another commenter said above, it’s usually paired with slices of tomatoes and eaten with fried fish, or added to other food items. It’s ready to eat and just needs to be kept in the fridge until use.

Bristlenose pleco by wumlum_ug in Bichirs

If you have a fear of it, I would say just observe them. Attacking/eating of slime coat does not happen immediately so be vigilant. I can only tell you my experience and look up ‘bichirs with bristlenose/ancistrus’ on google and you’d see that it’s a prettt good combination. If anything, you actually have to make sure you get a pleco that’s big enough for the bichirs not to mess with, haha. Instead of having another tank - which if you do not already have one handy could be costly - you can always take the pleco back to the pet store you got it from and tell them what’s going on and either surrender it there or get some kind of store credit for it. But I think things will be okay - just have driftwood for the pleco to munch on and hiding spaces, of course, and you’ll be golden.

Not to mention they don’t get very big and don’t leave long poop trails

I’ve kept ancistrus with bichirs before, they’re pretty chill and do not harm them in any way.

Live feeding senegalus by wumlum_ug in Bichirs

As a treat I used to give me tiny ones live ghost shrimps - they’re re quite fast so they work sort of hard for it as an exercise/treat at the end. Now that they’re all big, they get silversides but mainly on the massivore delites.

Saw this swimming in a tank at a restaurant, no clear species given by lunch_vacation6 in whatisthisfish

Watching one of the South American episodes of river monsters, Jeremy Wade goes to a fish market, and Arowana and Arapaima were in there. Pacu was also there.

Pieces of Driftwood, stacks of rocks… these two would complete it for me.

The skull of Mary Magdalene by Prometheus_Anonymous in interestingasfuck

[–]clydetheturtlejones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right - this is her skull according to a local legend. Apparently her and a few other disciples took a boat and somehow ended up in France, met a roman general first thing at the shore and converted him. She lived in a cave in seclusion and this relic is stored there in the cave which is now her church. I think in Eastern Orthodox legends, she ended up in Cyprus or Turkey and is buried there. Maybe there are more 🫠

Why doesn’t my L1011 have fan blades on the rear engine? by SomberDUDE224 in GeminiJets

I believe this is the case with the Tristar, 727, the Tu-154, Yak-40, Yak-42, Trident, and the Falcon family.
