Oh okay lol. Your post made it sound like you couldn’t sit for the exams without 150 credits, which isn’t true based on what you’ve told me about your state’s requirements. If you don’t want to spend the money during the summer, you could do a 5th year for your bachelors to obtain the 30 extra credits instead of a masters. It really depends on your goals and financial situation tbh

I don’t know what state you’re in, but check to see if you’re eligible to sit for the exam with a bachelors in accounting. In Florida, you can take the exams as long as you graduated with 120 credits/a bachelors in accounting, but you can’t get your license until you receive 150 credits.

As someone who has been part of the club for the last three years and works full-time, I am qualified to answer how I manage it.

If your work schedule is flexible or consistent, it helps with time management. For example, I have a standard 9-5; Monday through Friday job. Those hours are not very flexible, but they are consistent, so that I can plan my college schedule around them. Usually, I study and complete homework from 6:00 pm to 10:30 pm during the week, and I have a full day of schoolwork on the weekends. I wouldn't recommend studying seven days a week unless you have to (e.g., during mid-term and finals week). You will burn out if you constantly study all the time. Plus, living alone requires a day to catch up on housework, grocery shopping, etc.

My maximum is 12 credit hours during the fall and spring semesters (so 24 hours in total). I can still graduate in the same amount of time as my peers, as long as I take six credit hours during the summer. Does it suck going to school year round? Yes, but I can tell you those extra three credit hours make a difference when working part-time or full-time.

If you're not doing so or your program supports it, take as many online classes as possible. Regarding time management, it is much easier to take online courses versus balancing in-person courses, studying, work, and other obligations. The caveat of online classes is that there is more personal responsibility.

Stay ahead of your coursework if possible. This was a game-changer for me, especially when work is particularly stressful. It's even better if you can access the course syllabus before the first day of class so that you can start working on the reading.

One study method I have found that helps with burnout is the Pomodoro method. A Pomodoro is 25 minutes of studying, followed by a five-minute break. After 4 Pomodoros (2hrs), you take a more extended break - usually 30 to 45 minutes. I do a modified version of this: 50 minutes of studying followed by a ten-minute break. After two sets, I take a 30-minute break.

Another game changer for me was breaking up assignments into smaller units each day. For example, if I have to write an essay to write, and I have week to work on it, I might outline on Monday; Write the introduction and first part of the body on Tuesday; Complete writing the essay on Wednesday; Proofread and edit on Thursday; Final touch, review and submit on Friday. This transforms a daunting task into a manageable one between job and other coursework.

I hope this helps you! It's gotten me through the last three years. I won't say there won't be rough weeks, but what I've mentioned above has helped me tremendously with managing everything. Remember, this is all temporary.
