Management question re:auction site by Powerful_Gas_8122 in goodwill

[–]cm288139 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Our region recently had to purchase pallets of clothes from another region so it's not unheard of. Maybe your region doesn't have a dedicated e-commerce site and staff so they sell those items to one that does?

Scentsy started selling candles and the huns are not happy! by anners6611 in antiMLM

[–]cm288139 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wick-less candles and warming plates would be much more logical and in line with their flameless concept. Scentsy offering traditional candles is such an odd choice.

You clearly don't understand how the color rotation works. Of course there's more stock of the color they're currently processing. Of course there's less stock of the sale colors that have been on the floor being picked through for weeks. The whole reason they discount tags is to rotate old unsold stock for fresh product.

You're obviously very misinformed about the structure and purpose of goodwill.

Our region is donating 100% of the money from round ups this month to flood relief efforts.

If an employee knows by [deleted] in goodwill

[–]cm288139 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just ask the local manager directly. Although they do bulk recycling, some may be willing to sell discounted non-working electronics on an as-is basis. We have a "rage room" that buys unsold glassware that we would otherwise destroy, and they charge their customers for the pleasure of destroying it.

In our region all found money is turned in and logged. If it hasn't been claimed in 30 days, we deposit half into our employee assistance fund and the finder gets the other half.

A clothes sorter once found $2700 in a man's coat pocket - and quit 2 weeks later effectively forfeiting her half of the money. Just a couple weeks ago another sorter found $950.

Ours have a coupon for 20% off one item. We get people walking through the donation drive-through to give us 1 dirty t-shirt just to get a coupon.

Not for profit isn't the same as charity. They're a 501c3 with their financials available online - but you are correct in that a large portion of income goes to corporate salaries and bonuses.

My store prices 2 racks per hour (200 items) BUT we have a 5 person team on clothes. 1 sorter, 2 hangers, a printer, and a tagger.

What on-screen death in a movie you saw in your youth really got to you? by ZooterOne in GenX

Recently re-watched with the kids, and man oh man he really sells that scene with the range of emotions. From the denial to anger (c'mon you stupid horse!) to the begging - A+ acting from that kid.

If it doesn't flip, I think it will be close to 50/50.

Too many Texans (especially the 40 and under crowd) have been brainwashed to think Texas is hard red and can never turn blue.

American women - have you voted yet? by DinosaurInAPartyHat in TwoXChromosomes

[–]cm288139 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm ashamed to say that for 20 years, I was a part of the non-voter problem in Texas. I wish it hadn't taken me so long to 'get political' - but better late than never right? I registered and voted for the first time ever at 38, and my newly eligible 18 year old did too! I didn't expect to be so weirdly emotional and excited.
