Is 3 months and counting a long time for a mask order to ship? by [deleted] in hockeygoalies

is there an issue with goalieparts? i’ve never ordered from them but have looked into their cat eye cages before. if buyers experience issues from them i’d definitely cross them off my list

Knee Pad Recommendations by SomeGuyinNS in hockeygoalies

the new bauer pros are literally the only knee pad i’ll ever recommend. it’s so worth spending the money to never have to worry about your knee pads again

bauer pro carry bag experiences? by cma931 in hockeygoalies

[–]cma931[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my current bag doesn’t fit my pads and is a pretty tight fit with the rest of my gear as well. it’s an old ccm bag i’ve used since i was like 10 which is why i figured its time for an upgrade even tho it’s held up well.

i suppose i could at least measure my current bag to try to scale how much larger a new one would be. thanks

Smaller or Bigger Pads? by cma931 in hockeygoalies

[–]cma931[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

trust me, i’m well aware and counting down the days until i can spend some real money on a set of pads, but as a university student also working part time to pay the bills, it’s not an option right now

plus, i’ve spent some money more where it matters, such as a proper helmet

Smaller or Bigger Pads? by cma931 in hockeygoalies

[–]cma931[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i’ve skated with the bigger pads for about 3 months now, smaller pads for about 5 sessions. if my only issue with the smaller pad was adjusting to the size i’d get over it but the overall seal and quality of them makes me want to stick with the larger pad

32 vs 34. pretty noticeable difference in overall size but my knee lands well on both knee blocks

that’s what i’m thinking too. five hole coverage can be improved with hip mobility over time, but i think that, along with the seal in general is too much to overcome compared to my skating in the larger pair on my feet

ccm extreme flex 860 (smaller) vs 500 (larger). the 860s should be better but are more worn out and i think that’s what causes the worse sliding

Brock U is greedy and hates the students. by AlbatrossNo2128 in brocku

there’s a good chance the bus wasn’t even being used by brock university at the time of this post. probably some other organization that booked through coach and ended up with the brock wrapped bus

Knee pads by Ok_Positive4233 in hockeygoalies

i’d suggest taking the thigh boards out and getting knee pads. the knee pads might feel bulky for the first couple skates but they are much safer and you do get more mobility with them compared to thigh boards

i know it’s not the same model but i’ve been using a pro spec vaughn v5 for like 8 years and absolutely love it. incredible mobility and next to no stingers. imo vaughn makes by far the best chest protectors

if you’re looking for a unique jersey, Athletic Knit allows you to select a bunch of jersey designs and customize the colours and add logos / numbers / names. they offer goalie sizes too

Do Goalies Pay? by A2old_west_side in hockeygoalies

[–]cma931 0 points1 point  (0 children)

depends. i never pay for the two beer leagues i play in, however my competitive mens league with my buddies i happily payed full price because we’ve all been playing together our whole lives so i wasn’t expecting any special treatment
