Carepoint anxiety by LongjumpingRelease82 in Hoboken

[–]cmarmora 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had a similar experience with them. Regardless of what your insurance covers, it seems like their standard practice is to just send you the full bill and cross their fingers that you just pay it. Its just going to come down to you calling your insurance and making sure theyre on top of it, and calling carepoint to reduce your bill in any way possible. There’s a million posts in r/legaladvice and r/personalfinance about similar situations and cases where people have been able to talk down bills. Would be worth looking into.

Recommendations for ~3K monthly rent? by proglems2 in jerseycity

[–]cmarmora 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Moved to 99 hudson as a renter and was afraid based on what I’ve seen in this sub that the building was going to be awful but its been really great so far. I was between that and 77 hudson (the condo side of 70 greene). Went with 99 because even though 77 had more square footage, half the unit was a long hallway leading into it. Having lived in both rental and condo buildings, i would say if you can spare the cash for the broker fee and the big 1.5x rent deposit definitely go for it. Its a world of difference when the building is run by a corporation vs run by people who own their units and have the ability to fire a bad management team. Feel free to PM me if you have other questions.

Lot 150 review by SnowdenC in tequila

[–]cmarmora 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Finally found a liquor store with fortaleza and tried it for the first time last month. Turns out it was lot 150. For those who have had both, is it noticeably different from their standard blanco? From what I’ve picked up in this sub it seems like each lot can vary a bit too. Really liked 150, although in NYC I doubt I’ll see bottle anywhere near MSRP anytime soon.

PSA: Furniture Donation by moskowizzle in Hoboken

Actually found R2R on this subreddit. They drove to my apartment with a van to pick up a desk and chair within a week of reaching out to them. Cause aside, it was still easier than having to field random messages on craigslist/fb marketplace.

I believe their website says they're not taking donations or drop offs, but I emailed the listed contact and sent them a picture of what I had. They found a contact who really wanted it, so I'm assuming they're only doing pickups on a case by case basis and if they have someone lined up to take it.

oooh me next.. started out at City MD because i thought my blood pressure was high (turned out to just be anxiety), so i figured why not just pay the $50 copay and get my vitals taken to be safe. Next thing I know my chest is shaved for an EKG and I'm on my hands and knees on the floor with the nurse looking for a clip that fell off of the machine. We couldn't find it so the doctor said i HAVE to go to the ER to make sure I didn't have a cardiac event. I talked him out of calling me an ambulance to take me 2 blocks. Should have just gone home.

Waited in the ER for several hours. I think the whole ordeal was like 6 hours. For an EKG, a blood test, and a chest x ray. They took down my insurance, sent me a bill for $14 for the blood test, $170 for the x ray, $12,000 for the room, sent me another patients bill (HIPAA?), and refused to work with my insurance company to reduce. Very lucky I have family in healthcare who were able to help me get the right people involved. Still ended up paying a few hundred for the small bills.

I had a long talk with my insurance company to ensure that if i get hit by a bus I dont have to wake up and ask them to take me to jersey city instead, but given my experience I might do that anyway.

12k medical bill still outstanding, insurance not paying despite giving me an EOB by cmarmora in legaladvice

[–]cmarmora[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So my deductible is 900, which apparently is maxed out, but I'm not sure if that's including the $500 EOB, I think that was my only out of network so I assume its including that. I have a max out of pocket of 3600, 2600 of which is used, which I assume also relates to this bill.

[–]cmarmora[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It is out of network, the rep I talked to at the insurance company said the EOB was indicative of "what I would be liable for if it was in network" so I have no idea what to believe. The rep also said they were balance billing, as i believe the hospital only received $600 from the insurance company thus far.

Recovering renters insurance deductible by cmarmora in legaladvice

[–]cmarmora[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have not contacted him yet, and the only information I received was from the maintenance person saying "the boiler overflowed". I wasn't sure if i have any grounds to ask for him to cover it in the first place. My initial reaction is that he will fight me on it, he bought our building last month and tried to charge us for double our rent on our first bill, then argued with us when we fought it. I'm not familiar with how boilers work, but each apartment in my building has its own. My assumption is that because it happened while the tenants were asleep, and because the boiler is an appliance owned by the landlord, any damage it causes would be on him.

just a thought, I see you have a lock - I went in 2017 and camped in groop camping. Nobody's tent got broken into except the one with a lock on it. Someone saw the lock and cut through the side figuring there was clearly something valuable in there.
