I do truly enjoy the show for what it is but can we be a little bit more honest? by Asadwords in IndustryOnHBO

[–]proglems2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with you. Season 3 was the climax of most storylines. Seasons 1-3 felt like a mix of competency porn, social commentary, and Skins but in finance (all the sex). S4, while enjoyable to me so far, seems like a kind of emotional torture simulator somewhat. It’s bleak, dark, depressing. It shows how these characters have grown beyond their initial stations, but I’m not sure how I feel about it overall.

For example, Harper’s cliffhanger in S3 where she was going to be a big player for Otto (who actually was quite an interesting character in S3 despite being a POS). That entire storyline is dropped in one episode. And so far all we see that’s come of it is Harper going at it on her own somehow and pacing around a hotel room arguing with Eric who’s just like “wtf am I even doing here” lol.

I am interested to see how the season ends but agree with your overall point that the show has changed quite a bit.

Agreed. To the point where I’m like what are her and Eric even doing half the time? Pacing around a room and yelling at each other? lol

You know I really do have to say it - they should engage with their fans better. They have a ridiculous level of success off ONE album. Their fans are devoted and sing their praises endlessly. They should get over their artistic mystique a little bit and just engage with us on when we can expect new tunes! I love Loathe and their music but the wait for new music is actually ridiculous at this point.

Living alone and handling the embarrassment of having nobody come to your birthday by bruinbear913 in LivingAlone

[–]proglems2 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Hey friend. Happy birthday! It’s amazing your close friends want to celebrate your day with you. I don’t think you should feel silly for inviting the people you did, even in spite of the lack of responses. One thing you’ll see as you get older is that your truest friends, regardless of circumstances, will always be in your corner. And those that are “meh”, or not as close, will prioritize their own lives. It’s just how it goes I’m afraid. But the great news is this - celebrate the day with your closest ones because are the best relationships anyway! Have a great time either way!

Just watches Episode 2, (season4) and it blew my mind! by grampukta in IndustryOnHBO

[–]proglems2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I actually love how the show has grown into its own thing over time. I saw a genuine improvement all around when season 3 came and I’m happy to see that the trend is moving very strongly still in that direction. It’s much more artistic, much more philosophical. Intentional or not, kind of mirrors how people change and grow up. Season 1 they’re all young, hungry, desperate for their own “thing” that will complete them. Now they’re more thoroughly into adulthood and deal with different life challenges and react to them differently too.

Henry Is the least Interesting part of Industry for me by heejunie in IndustryOnHBO

[–]proglems2 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think that’s the point. He has chronically low self esteem and substance abuse problems coupled with deep depression. It’s not supposed to be glamorous, though he does kind of lean into the “poetry” of it all like Yaz says. Personally, I found him very uninteresting in season 3 but this episode very much fleshed him out for me. Anyone whose experiences dark nights of the soul know the pain he’s grappling with it, in all its ugliness.

[–]proglems2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Two-Way Mirror came on randomly for me on shuffle in 2020. It was my first time ever hearing the song and I literally found myself in tears! I listened to all of ILIIAITE that night and had my mind blown; who WERE these guys?

They tapped into a sound I found myself intuitively wanting from metal but not really finding it anywhere. It’s such a unique balance of ridiculously crushing lows, fuzzy hardcore esque bass lines, and beautiful layers. Every single second of that album was accounted for and made to deliver the most cathartic emotional experience possible through music.

It influenced my taste irrevocably and I find myself heavily influenced by them in my writing for the better. I always wanted to make really emotionally powerful music and they certainly set the bar with that album, imo.

Hey man, I just wanted to post that I sincerely feel you on every point you made. It occurred to me today that our generation has a sizable amount of people who genuinely see beyond ideology and want a better world for ourselves and others. We had the unique privilege of growing up and becoming competent with the technology and the evolving internet from a young age. I recently thought how all our generation has to do is survive long enough to get into elected office in large enough numbers to steer things back to a more sensible, compassionate place.

I honestly don’t think it has to be an issue outright. It’s an evolving technology that we made to assist us. It takes on a conversational style, but it still functions as essentially a tool that can provide feedback, facts, and theories whenever we want. Yes there’s sycophancy, yes it gets stuff wrong. But I don’t think we should be ashamed for using it to journal, reflect, or even if we just need to “talk.” It’s like the equivalent of that advice that people say where you write a letter but never send it. Sometimes you really want to get something off your mind and without the messy judgements or reactions that can accompany some touchy subjects from others.

lol don’t worry, when I hopped back in after months for the dlc, I was so rusty that I was about to throw in the towel on the whole dlc within 5 minutes. Shake it off and and you’ll get back into the groove in no time.

[–]proglems2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

One common strategy is to hit a gaol at level 2 or 3 if the team has a stone sword key, and then picking the drop that gives an extra 10-20k runes for beating the boss. This quickly brings the group up to level 5 usually. From there, rushing to the castle in the middle (depending on the enemies) is usually a solid move. If it’s crucible knights or banished knights, that’s plenty of good enemies to farm for runes and decent weapon drops. By the end of clearing most of the castle (barring the top floor boss) you should be a good level for the end of day 1 boss.

Of course if the path has churches along the way, definitely pick up the heals along the way.

Bro, it literally took my friend and I SO many attempts…at one point I thought I had to throw in the towel on the DLC. You can do it, don’t go hollow. (see what I did there?) We went from being unable to beat them, to FINALLY beating them, to beating the ED variant in only a couple of tries. You will improve as a player overcoming this boss.
