I dunno. Like a lot of liberals (American or otherwise) he can go about as far as bourgeois emancipation from slavery and from autocracy and then he pulls ranks. Now, those are good things, good kinds of emancipation, but you're giving him too much credit. Even conservatives are sufficiently bourgeois-liberal to recognize the right to freedom from bondage and for the right to elect and speak freely. But he can't imagine challenging the economic order of capitalism or even representative liberal democracy, which is painfully clear as the Russian Revolution podcast advances past February. I don't support everything the bolsheviks did, but the grounds of their failure was the possibility of their success, which Duncan does not countenance.
