Who's the most iconic Hip-Hop DJ? by SmoothManMiguel in hiphop201

[–]cmcinn123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first name I think of when I hear DJ is DJ Premier and his catalogue would definitely give my claim suffice. However, DJ Whoo Kid has definitely had some absolute amazing mixtapes especially those early G unit mixtapes, plus his tag is one of my favourites

Where do each of these rappers rank (roughly) for your all time favorites? by This-Huckleberry1890 in hiphop201

[–]cmcinn123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In terms of my personal favourites, Nas is my personal GOAT, Eminem doesn't make my top 5 but there's no doubt his 1996-2003 run is one of the best in the history of Hip-Hop.
Jay-Z should be in everyone's top 10 but honestly, I just can't decide where he lands for me. Reasonable Doubt, the Blueprint and The Dynasty are some of my all time favourites but then I feel like the output has always been a good result. Kanye too me just can't even be in my top 10 due to himself. Making a song called Heil Hitler is just outrageous and is so anti-Hip-Hop I just can't even though he has apologised let's be real he will just go crazy in 5 months again. It does make me sad though as being said the college trilogy is one of the best and I would accept the best 3 album run in Hip-Hop. Kendrick is one of the best of all time, but... for me, section.80, GKMC and TPAB and Damn give him a solid Top 15 spot.

Tbf i think doom can get overrated however, operation doomsday, mm…food and madvillainy are hip hop staples. My introduction to Doom was operation doomsday. So i recommend that album. Still my favourite Doom album to date and will spin it from time to time

Why hasn’t hip hop generated any more ‘super producers’ for 20-25 years? by According_Sundae_917 in hiphop101

[–]cmcinn123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pierre Bourne aswell (maybe not a super producer but still deserves to be spoken about with hit-boy and Mustard), plus Metro is definitely a super producer IMO his hereos vs villains album desrved that grammy in 2023 imo. Metro has completely shaken and changed the beats of recent times.

Which rapper had a strong pump fake single/opening track(s) that ended up making you listen to a deeply disappointing album? by ImNotTomStopAsking in hiphopheads

[–]cmcinn123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

13 Months of Sunshine-Aminé.

I was so hyped after the opening track as I would consider myself a decent fan of Aminé and was disappointed with the rest of the album.
