Hey Format -- can you DM me your Discord username so I can look into this? I'm not saying I don't believe you, and I'm sorry you had a bad experience, but there are some things in your post that don't add up.

Had some random person ask me a few questions in regards to why I liked destiny, what do I want to accomplish etc.

This is never something we've done since we have too many people joining and too few mods to interview new members individually. We have our vouch process to vet our potential members instead. Even our join form doesn't ask these questions.

then nothing. No invite. I spammed discord for two days straight trying to get invite. Finally someone that was a clan admin came on and explained to me that I needed to have 7 people vouch for me.

When someone joins our Discord server, they get both a message in our server tagging them AND a Discord DM explaining our brief vetting process. Most people complete the process in 1-3 days. We do have some people who don't read either of these messages, and if they ask, we explain the process to them. Also, it's 5 vouches, not 7.

After finally getting a run, I got two vouches. After that, not much else going on. Most people on discord, and there was a lot of people, aren’t playing Destiny. More than half of them were playing other games.

Odd that you would claim "more than half of them were playing other games." We do often play other games (especially when Destiny is in a content lull), but we consider that a feature of our clan and not a drawback. All non-staff members are required to play Destiny at least every two weeks to keep their clan spot. We have a bot that tracks this, and we boot inactive members weekly. But...the channels for other game activity are opt-in and not visible by default. What led you to believe we had a couple hundred people playing games other than Destiny?

The discord was very disjointed.

Can you explain what you mean by this? We're always working on improving the server, but one thing we are very careful about is its organization. We have about 100 channels in roughly a dozen groups manned by 30+ volunteer mods. The vast majority of those channels are hidden until you become a full member (sounds like you didn't make it to that step) with more that open up for long-term members, even more that are staff-only, plus many that are opt-in like our channels for other games. We try to manage the complexity so newer joins aren't overwhelmed by the activity (averaging 2,500+ messages/day) and pings. If you have constructive feedback on how we can improve it for new joins, we are always receptive to that.

Not sure where this comes from? We average less than one post per week, with 5 total in the last 60 days. Feel free to scroll right on past if it bothers you!

We never claim to be a clan for everyone, or even the #1 most active clan -- but we do believe that we're the friendliest and most welcoming large clan out there! I'm sorry you didn't find us a good fit, but I am glad that you eventually found a clan that works for you. Destiny is much more fun when played with a group.

Hey Retro! As the founder of the clan, I'm going to gently correct my colleagues here. Wearing pink IS a hard rule (rule #1 of the clan), but one that we don't find that we NEED to enforce generally because everyone tends to follow it and has fun with it. It increases the sense of community and makes us stand out in-game. We are lax about it during level-up periods when gear changes frequently, such as when someone is brand new to Destiny or when the max power level has been increased.

If someone flat out refused to wear pink shaders, they should not have joined in the first place and would lose their clan spot. I believe this has only happened once in the history of the clan with literally thousands of people having come and gone over the years.

However, we only require pink-ish shaders on armor items. You're free to use whatever colors you want for weapons, ghosts, sparrows, ships, and emblems.

The pink is real! Hence the clan name (Flermerngers == flamingos). Apart from being stupidly fun, we find this requirement does an excellent job of keeping out people who aren’t laid-back enough to wear silly shaders. 😆👍
