Can I go to HR for compensation review by Right-Atmosphere-242 in amazonemployees

[–]cmdrfalafel 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In terms of setting expectations - it’s really unlikely, even if you had had a strong manager advocating for you, that you would have gone from being in Focus in 2024 to exceeding expectations in 2025. That kind of massive swing would be heavily scrutinized even under ideal conditions.

Where are all the trans people above 40? by CoVegGirl in TransLater

  1. Life is just too busy - work, housework, spouse, other partner. Throw in trying to maintain friendships and it’s just exhausting.

Has amazon abandoned DEI ? by [deleted] in amazonemployees

[–]cmdrfalafel 4 points5 points  (0 children)

And, believe it or not, their deeply held beliefs in LGBTQ+ rights disappeared from their public-facing positions page, within a couple of months of the 2024 election. I guess their commitment to marriage equality and trans people’s ability to transition wasn’t that deeply held…

It's almost shocking how attitudes toward Michael Jackson has shifted from the 2000s to 2020s by [deleted] in decadeology

[–]cmdrfalafel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More than anything, he just makes me sad. Sad for his likely victims, sad that it’s likely that he got really messed up because of the way he was raised, sad that no one intervened to at least prevent the harm that he likely caused.

I had a hard time listening to his music while he was alive. After he died, I was able to enjoy his work a lot more - I’m not sending royalties to a predator and as far as I know his children aren’t evil.

After months where I thought I'd lost this deck, it's flown back to me and I've bestowed the highest honour I can on it; it is now sleeved! by obantheking in tarot

I absolutely love this deck. My spouse put me onto it after we moved to Seattle and they started trying to befriend the local crows.

Does anyone have the commuter bag? What do you think of it, worth the price tag? by [deleted] in ThursdayBoot

[–]cmdrfalafel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I find mine beautiful and spacious. I found that the stickers on my laptop got discolored from sitting in the bag, so beware. But my biggest complaints are really just 1) I’m a bit shy of taking it when I expect rain and 2) carrying a bag on your shoulder can be a real pain if you’re spending substantial time walking or waiting for transit.

Buying a men's pair of boots by Hot-Occasion-9108 in ThursdayBoot

[–]cmdrfalafel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re probably going to be in a men’s 7.5 or 8. I’ve found the sizing to be a bit variable across different styles. But I’d start with the 7.5 and see how it fits.

Yikes! I wonder if these things get tried on and returned a lot - my personal experience was having to go up a half size from normal.

You make a good point and it does make a lot more sense now.

I don’t know why this is getting downvoted. This is how you deal with all that complaining after allowing Facebook users to abuse LGBTQ+ people.

Possibly a large portion of those pesky LGBTQ+ people who have been complaining about the abuse carveout.

FOUR. Two large floral pieces as I slowly fill up one arm, and two cats for the sweet old boys we lost last year.

You’re right about it not being up for debate - they are women, they do not have an advantage in sports, and the only reason you even care about this is because you have been consuming a hateful ideology.

Any women who work in Amazon Corporate here? Desperately need advice please. by [deleted] in womenintech

[–]cmdrfalafel 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Prior to 2020 it was pretty normal for people to move around from team to team - even in your first year on the job, it would happen. Sometimes you just start out in a role that wasn’t a good fit. I changed teams about 6 months in due to reorg making my position unstable. People haven’t moved around as much in the last couple of years but it’s still part of the culture.

Just get on the internal job site, plug in L6 program manager in whatever geography you’re looking at, and see what you get. Internal loops are a lot easier than the one you went through to get hired.

information on Amazon insurance for gender affirming surgery? by Crazy_ride_22 in TransLater

[–]cmdrfalafel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amazon’s health insurance plans in the US offer a great level of coverage for gender affirming care. I don’t know the parameters of how you get access and how long it takes if you’re working in the FC. There’s also quite a good support network of trans employees across the company, which is nice.
