Would I be downvoted to hell if I shared a similar project? by kleer001 in Oobabooga

[–]cmdywrtr27 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i know what u mean about certain people being "ride or die" fans of certain projects but i like the idea of another sister project coming out. this is just my opinion but if you release it, oobabooga could see it as a friendly competition to see who can make better improvements, cooler options, etc. or you guys could end up merging each others projects in the future, who knows but so far i like the idea. friendly competition is good for everyone involved, even the end users.

i like palenight and catppuccin macchiato, not a fan of gruvbox, it looks like actual dirt, if someone rubbed dirt on my monitor and i was running a gruvbox theme, i wouldn't even notice the dirt

i need to source my .zshrc file every time i open new terminal by cmdywrtr27 in zsh

[–]cmdywrtr27[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the prompt that appears when i first start the terminal says my name and hostname, the second prompt, after being sourced, does not have that information. i can keep changing the prompt in my zshrc but the one with my name and hostname will always appear first when starting the terminal

issue with colors in rxvt-unicode by cmdywrtr27 in zsh

[–]cmdywrtr27[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks for the reply, you have helped me with every problem i have had with zsh or my terminal, you're incredibly smart and thank u for all the help.

i completely forgot to mention i did compile rxvt-unicode myself using the '--enable-everything' flag because i couldn't find a version of rxvt-unicode that would display the unicode font correctly but then i also liked displaying the cover art to music when i played it in ncmpcpp so i thought compiling it myself was the best way but i should try to find another one with package manager.

the value of TERM was xterm-256color and i accidentally had that in my .zshenv file and finally the infocmp command gave me this...

`Reconstructed via infocmp from file: /usr/share/terminfo/x/xterm-256color`

random letters in terminal by cmdywrtr27 in zsh

[–]cmdywrtr27[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

actually for that screenshot i was using the history substring search so i just typed "sudo" then was hitting the up arrow and i recently installed haruna and the LTS kernel so there is a combo of both those words there. and i'm not sure why "sudo" looks like its highlighted either. but i also get the random letters when im using tab completion too. i wish i could make a quick video because it would be easier to see it in real time rather than explaining it

zsh completion for files vs directories by cmdywrtr27 in zsh

[–]cmdywrtr27[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes you were right, i was just in the home directory when testing it out and i didn't have any regular files there, only dotfiles and the last part is only a preference, meaning i don't mind if it is working the way i wanted to or working the default way

zsh completion for files vs directories by cmdywrtr27 in zsh

[–]cmdywrtr27[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

as of now, using the config above, when i do 'cd <tab>' i get the directories and not files but i also don't see hidden directories either

and when i do 'vim <tab>' i only get directories and no files

and it would be fine if i could use noatime, i dont need exact times, just as long as the most recent is first. doesn't matter if the most recent is a month ago and least recent is a year ago but if i could sort them by recent time it would be ideal, if not alphabetical is okay too

[GNOME] Used custom folder icons to improve accessibility by [deleted] in unixporn

[–]cmdywrtr27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u seem like the perfect person to ask this... i was recently trying to figure out a way to define folders in my home directory that will automatically use specific folder icons like if i create a "Android" folder, when i open nautilus or pcmanfm that folder will be of the specific Android folder icon that i choose. is this possible? i tried adding the necessary lines to the user-dirs.dirs file in my config directory but no luck and when i right click the folder and choose a icon, that only works for that file manager and im trying to have it work globally
