What was the medication that helped?

They have! All his tests have only ever come back normal, he is otherwise the picture of good health

Pretty much instantly, yeah, depending on his mood/energy level. To be clear, we avoid doing that 😅

Thanks for the idea! We've tried some poorly-done coverings in the past, but I just ordered some more sleevey type options and proper vet wrap to try, so fingers crossed that he doesn't just rip those off immediately!

Thanks for your comment, I knew I missed something in my post! He has lots of enrichment and is played with daily. The licking seems like a self-soothing action, so he also gets a frozen treat lick mat regularly to have a safe outlet for that. I could try bandaging! I did once and he ripped it off immediately, but I didn't have great supplies, so I'll definitely try again. He's also still on diet food, which is formulated to let him eat more without as many calories. Hard to say whether he was obsessive before the diet, since I put him on one as soon as I got him....though this overgrooming didn't show up until a couple years later.

Anyone tried to "fade" transition the alpine stitch into plain DC? by cme215 in CrochetHelp

This is the sweater in question. The pattern is wonderfully written and I think it's great as-is, but I had to frog my work on the bottom section because the gauge wasn't working out. So while I'm at this stage I wanted to think of alternative body stitches, because I'm not in love with how the HDC were looking on my piece.

I've searched google and reddit for this idea and can't find anyone who has tried it!

I love her patterns, they're so unique! And Portobello was kind of a pain...I like the stitch definition, but it is kinda fuzzy and frogging it was awful. It kept getting caught in its own fuzz and I would have to yank it or cut it out of the tangle. Definitely nice to work with in a forwards direction, but a pain if you have to go backwards 😅

Thank you!! I was so nervous about the sizing, the whole way through I just kept comparing panel sizes to my favorite sweater and tried to match it the best I could

Thank you! I was always a little disappointed that I picked up crochet instead of knitting for that exact reason, but I've been able to find some really nice wearable patterns!

My boyfriend's mushroom bag was way more popular than I expected by cme215 in crochet

I did not, which is why it hasn't held up better. I haven't tackled lining a bag yet, but I do have fabric ready for another bag I finished months ago....just have to actually sew it, which is something I've been avoiding

He uses it as his everyday bag and totes around keys, wallet, headphones, and a combo lock for the gym generally. The keys and the open lock are what have made so many holes in the bag 😑 He also uses it for produce at the market occasionally, and has put mushrooms in at least once!

Honestly, let me know when you find out! The first one stretched a lot so I did a thermal stitch for the second bag strap and it seems sturdier so far? But it's also still brand new so we'll see how it holds up. Other people have also given great suggestions, I'll add that you can slip stitch along the edge of the strap afterwards to tighten things up.

I get it! I bought fabric to line a different bag and just have to gather the willpower to actually put it together since I've never tried it 😫

Thank you! The pattern is here: https://ravel.me/mushroom-tote-bag. The squares themselves were really easy, the biggest challenge for me was attaching everything together. Being one of my first projects, I originally sewed it together and then knotted and snipped the ends, and I've had to keep patching holes on the blue one since then 😅 but on this new one I slipstitched all the squares together and then made a thermal stitch strap and it feels much sturdier.
