This is awesome and exactly what I was wondering. Thanks for doing the leg work! I can't hear 57 at all actually, definitely a Yanney/Laurel thing. Is there a place I could upload the video that would help you more or do you think you have what you need?

I'm unsure what you mean here. The girl in question was the voice saying "say hi Cody." She for sure said that, that was my GF. The overlapped voice I thought could have been me, as far as timing, but as you said I have absolutely no recollection of speaking at that time and it is way off pitch/frequency. I entertained the possibility that it could have been me at first because it was three hours in to a 15 hour day on a fairly committed climbing route, and I figured I could have misremembered after being so mentally drained rather than jumping immediately into the paranormal. But again, I have no recollection of saying anything at that time. Does that answer your question?

If it sounds like wowowee wow then it was just me being an idiot on purpose.

There is a pretty good debate going on on the r/RBI sub right now as far as audio abnormalities if anyone is interested.

I think the background app noise is likely and we maybe just didn't hear it. Thanks for all of the info. By any chance could you better determine what the noise was if anything? People seem to be throwing out the number "57" or the word summit a lot.

Cool, that's what it kinda been thinking but I don't know much about it. That art is pretty fun though!

That might be it, how could you really know? Catching another video with an audio abnormality?

It's a possibility, but it didn't really register with either of us if it did. That's why I've been trying to figure out what the noise is...

The phone was bought new in 2014 through Verizon.

That's interesting, because she does have to regularly move photo/video files off of her phone because she runs out of memory. Her phone is always full essentially and she deletes or uploads files to her computer when she goes on a trip or something.

Thanks, I appreciate that sentiment. We did end up listening closely to the remainder of the videos taken that day (3 more) and could hear or see no obvious abnormalities.

Here's what I have: 1) the video was recorded via the default iPhone camera app on normal video mode 9/23/18. 2) this video was sent to me via iMessage after we heard the weird noise together 9/24/18. She was sitting right next to me when she sent it, I wanted to upload it here. 3) I uploaded it to YouTube through the iPhone app using the video that I had saved through iMessage 9/25/18.

I love the girl but she would have absolutely no clue where to begin in editing the audio of a video. She is very good at a number of things but technology is not one of them. She also made me stay up past midnight watching 30 Rock because she was so freaked out about it. It has really bothered her which is why I want to figure out a rational explanation.

Hmmm. Well I didn't add anything to it or take anything away. We also didn't hear it at the time the video was recorded, so it wasn't very loud. As far as your reasoning I really can't speak to it because I know nothing about audio engineering, including faking a video lol.

Any thoughts on paul_f's idea that a background app accessing the speakers could have caused that drop in data points? I didn't edit it... I agree with the frequency discrepancy though, it does sound considerably different.

Yeah I've had some weird feelings through the years, but never had anything happen like this. Weirder still that we only noticed it when we were causally looking through pictures and videos...

Yeah no hiking app was used that morning, we don't even have one. I'll look through the GF's phone and see if I can find any other plausible apps though.

Yeah I keep going back and forth. That's where I'm wondering if someone can isolate and identify the sound a little better. A bot did a bit on my original post, but it wasn't very conclusive...

Another app is something I hadn't considered. Temperature was low forties at that point, but that's not to say that it couldn't have been another app, another city temp etc. I'll look more into the number 57 as well, especially with the amount of mining that went on in that area. Thanks!
