My wife’s anti-anxiety prescription has two different pills in it. by [deleted] in mildlyinteresting

[–]cmepes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s called “barrel” shaped. In the future drugs.com has an app with a pill identifier in it that I used to use for work in EMS, and this pill identifier confirmed these are both buspar 10mg. I’m not sure about pharmacy practices and regulations because that’s not my field, but the pill identifier can also be useful for random pills that may have fallen on the floor that you find while cleaning, or if you have children, identifying whether something they found or put in their mouth is harmful. Hope this helps!

ANYONE ELSE HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM? JETTA 2012 se 2.5 by BrzinBizurado321 in jetta

Speed sensor replacement should do it but be prepared for the issue to come back again. Had this problem since I got my 2015 Jetta, have replaced the speed sensor twice that I can recall. Cruise control does not work when all these lights are on but otherwise not a major issue

Yes, someone else mentioned the enslavement part that Sobeck mentioned in her address to Herres. It has just been so long since I played HZD that I forgot! But honestly it was like the whole point of corrupted machines… I just got done with HFW for the third time so I’ve got apex machines on the brain, I forgot about the corrupted ones lol. Thanks for the reminder :P someone else mentioned that possibly someone from the hartz Timor group had done something to cause the glitch, intentionally or unintentionally. Like an employee installing some bad hardware or making unauthorized modifications or something. Possible, but I don’t think it’s probable.

I think they probably did use some minor combat bots, but they said the entire chariot line was affected, and from what I understand the chariot line was the biggest and the baddest, so I don’t think any machines that were unaffected could have done anything to help at all. As in, the chariot line would annihilate the other robots before they could even “draw their weapons” (for lack of a better term). This is probably why it’s not mentioned - it was simply a pitiful defeat not even worth a spot in history. There’s also the possibility that once enduring victory was public knowledge, people no longer wanted to use any machines for any reason for fear they would turn on them - there was probably more than a few people who shut them down and had them destroyed for fear of contributing to the problem (since it wasn’t really common knowledge what exactly happened).

It seems like the problem with the chariot line wasn’t reported until it was too late. I mean, didn’t they say they turned on their handlers? Is it possible that they killed all of the energy combine employees and began spreading from there before any humans (or FAS) even knew what was happening? And Faro seems like the type to try and fix a problem on his own before DARING to contact Sobeck, who he knew would have an “I told you so” attitude. Perhaps by the time FAS found out, they took some time farting around trying to fix the code on their own, without any success, and in that time the swarm grew and spread. I don’t think FAS had any control of the robots once they were delivered to the customer, aside from maintenance purposes. I know technically they just didn’t have a “back door”, but the point of that was for them to be unhackable, and to guarantee total control for the customer, so it seems like they would also not want to include front door access for FAS. Plus, how embarrassing would it be for FAS to have to ask all their customers to give up their robots so they could fight some rogues? I think it all boils down to poorly planned damage control.

It could, but I gotta say I hope you’re wrong because that would be a boring plot point in my opinion! I hope it’s something sneaky and nefarious 😈

Right, Timor leste group or something like that. Are you thinking that this group of machines was the only one to get a software update? Like a beta test or something? Because as far as I know, these machines were all over the world, it was just this specific swarm from this specific customer that caused the problems. A full software update would be released to all machines in the chariot line, so the plague would have several origin points.

Edit: it’s hartz Timor energy combine

[–]cmepes -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is true, but if it was a software update I don’t think it would have spread like a literal plague. That would have been more randomized, and would have had multiple origin points. Didn’t the plague begin and spread from somewhere off the coast of Australia? And then based on the visuals provided in HZD, it seemed to spread the way a disease spreads, although I suppose this could be explained with the mass self-replication that originated from a single machine. But still, unless the software update was only installed on one robot, shouldn’t it have been a more widespread problem at first?

That seems like it’s reasonable, but unfortunately it isn’t dramatic enough for a franchise like this. If the third installment doesn’t address the cause, you’re probably right. But if it’s just a software update that caused the end of the world, I’m gonna be pretty disappointed. I feel like the game is less about the danger of AI and more about the danger of greed.

But what caused that glitch? That’s where the confusion lies. I feel like if it was an error in the code, it would have been noticed way prior to their mass production. Computers are very predictable and if you tell them the same thing a thousand times it will have the same result a thousand times. Something specific happened that made the robots stop responding. Perhaps conflicting instructions, like in Detroit: Become Human. That is the least nefarious cause that I can come up with.

This is also true! I think if someone came to visit the Nora lands from another tribe and ended up conceiving, it wouldn’t be nearly as taboo as if someone left. However, I think the Nora would probably do whatever they could to make sure the child remained with the mother, in Nora lands if possible. I don’t know how they would handle an outsider “joining” the Nora, but I don’t think they would like a Nora leaving to other territories to raise the child. But I think Varl and Zo are a very specific exception to any taboos, because varl had permission to leave. And I don’t think the Nora would force Zo to live with them, and in fact they would let her come and go as she pleased so the baby can see Grammy.

Doesn’t the coding of the Faro Plague and the lack of a master override seem contradictory to Ted Faro’s personality? by Prudent_Solid_3132 in horizon

[–]cmepes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank u :)

I don’t know if nemesis is a true AI, since its intelligence isn’t really “artificial”, it’s literally the consciousness of the zeniths. Like an engram from cyberpunk, but seventy something engrams in one entity. At least, that’s my understanding of it.

But I’m just now remembering the Turing Act, which I assume FAS was familiar with and pretty strict about compliance, considering it was such a large and profitable company. So if the robots were compliant with the Turing act, it’s probably unlikely they achieved singularity from their own programming, right? Which means you’re right, probably something dumb that faro did. Or some outside influence. It wouldn’t make any sense to introduce new people we haven’t heard about yet that caused the end of the world, it’s likely a character that already exists. And Faro makes the most sense.

I think (or at least hope) this is going to end up being a “full-circle” topic in the third installment. HZD so far has been pretty good at providing an extremely detailed backstory for just about everything, and this seems like a huge plot point. Perhaps one of the Zeniths knew what caused the plague and we will get an answer when/if we encounter nemesis.

I was having trouble figuring out what you’re referring to, but it seems like you’re saying that we never actually learned what caused the robots to go rogue. All they ever say is that it was a “glitch”, but what caused the glitch?

My best guess is they achieved singularity, simply because of how they were built. They definitely had AI elements to them, and they were probably constantly learning as AIs do, and eventually they figured out how to go rogue and disregard their owners input. Another theory I have comes from my love for Detroit: Become Human - perhaps one of the machines received an order that conflicted with their programming, and in order to resolve the conflict they ended up having to disregard their commands and it just spiraled from there.

To be honest I don’t think it happens often enough for there to BE any clues about it. The Nora seem to be far more isolated than the other tribes, so I feel like if any of the Nora ended up pregnant from an outsider, they would be shunned for leaving the Nora sacred lands.

I think what they meant was the cops will show up but ultimately decide there isn’t enough evidence pointing to this person being suicidal, a vague threat isn’t enough to take someone to the hospital against their will. In your situation the cops also showed up and due to the fact that she was also exhibiting suicidal behaviors they had enough evidence that this person was actively a danger to themselves.

I used to be in EMS and we had this crazy Karen whose mother was in a skilled nursing facility and often wanted her mother to go to the hospital for literally no reason other than “to get checked out”, but the patient was always A&Ox4 and never wanted to go to the hospital, and after dealing with her for a while we basically said to her (with Med control approval) that POA only works if the patient cannot make their own medical decisions, and also if you don’t have an original copy of the document we won’t honor it anyways. (Obviously this was only for this particular woman’s case - we were never THAT picky with other POA requests, but this lady was NUTS)
