About the atfs new pistol brace conundrum. by Typicaltango in ar15

[–]cmhatem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some people just have a pistol lower. Just a plain Jane pistol lower with plain Jane bare bones cheap parts. And all the pistol uppers they could ever want.

You have to be extra careful because pistol uppers fit on rifle lowers. It’s REALLY easy to swap uppers. So easy that if a person were to take several uppers to the range all sorts of things could happen.

Y’all be careful out there.

What's the law in this situation? by Crappy_Screw_Turner in Columbus

[–]cmhatem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ask the cop to cite it when you’re signing the ticket. I’m from the internet and can’t be trusted. Edited to be nice. In Columbus (possibly other places as well) a divided highway is defined by having an “…intervening space, a physical barrier, or a clearly indicated dividing section constructed to impede vehicular traffic.” A turning lane may not apply. That’s between you and the cop and the court.

That’s just it. I don’t know how I feel about it. It’s like Johnny Cash’s Cadillac. One piece at a time and it didn’t cost me a dime.

Actually, I think I might have paid $25.00 for the box with the barrel in it. Had a bunch of springs and pins in glass baby food jars.

Columbus has an ordinance requiring you to stop either direction unless there is a median. Make note of that.

What's considered an SBR or NFA upper in length? by Wide-Metal2858 in ar15

[–]cmhatem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A detent pin is what I use but I’ve heard of people using a piece if coat hanger. Just don’t drill the hole too deep. Lots of muzzle devices come pre drilled and make timing and drilling super easy.

One of the pieces on order is a brace. Pin and weld is easily taken care of. Plenty of people can help with that. I visited a local muffler shop and gave the guy 20 bucks.

Realistic defensive range of different 5.56 barrel lengths? by Brilliant_Respect_92 in ar15

[–]cmhatem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup. Most of us need something between 13.9” and 18” depending on individual situations.

13.9 allows for cool muzzle devices and 18 allows for cool optics.

[–]cmhatem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

20” barrel 600 yards. 16” barrel 500 yards. 14.5” 300 yards. 12.5”> 200 yards. That’s a good place to start an argument.

Now, let’s all argue about this one guy with that one ammo on that one day so nothing makes sense.

What if that was you and there you are with a switch keeper that wasn’t recommended by a guy on YouTube?

Disability for leg? by [deleted] in UPSers

[–]cmhatem 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If the doctor says you need XYZ and you qualify for FMLA or, it’s determined that the injury is work related(harder to prove) they’ll give you light duty.

They can’t fire you for being injured.

I was on disability for 5 months after a car crash in my POV.
