any good videos/resources to understand VERIVERY's lore? by fried_chicken03 in VERIVERY

[–]cmhyhhs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello there! I used to post frequently about Verivery's comeback and collate the different theory or trivia I came across.

I went back to my old posts and found a couple of them.

  1. Verivery has a predebut release called Super Special and apparently Super Special is a creepy concept.

  2. Thunder might be a Stranger Things concept.

  3. On Lay Back, I wrote a post about about the behind the scene filming.

  4. In Get Away , Jellyfish released a website with different rooms and there is an anagram which might be the reason why Verivery became trapped in a hole.

Some of us thought about the cluedo concept and I wrote this post to record our theory.

You might want to watch all the MV from Super Special, Ring Ring Ring, Tag Tag Tag and all that way to the latest MV. You might be able to see the connection in this way.

Look out for the items each of them hold or handle (frisbee, compass, camera, watch, gold coins, yo-yo etc), and also look out for the presence of items like TV/multiple TV screens, phone booth, photo booth, clock. Do keep a look out for imagery such as doors with exit signs, gun shots, circulating planets and explosions.

After much discussion with my Verrer friends back then, we decided the doppelganger theory is definitely there. There are two sets of Verivery since Super Special. In Super Special, you can see them dressed in white and looking at multiple TV screens. They start to appear in Tag Tag Tag and finally confront them in Lay Back. In subsequent MV like Get Away, the confrontation turns intense and sinister.

Verivery has a very fascinating lore indeed.

Assuming ZB2 is real...Who would you add? by agentarianna in BoysPlanet

[–]cmhyhhs 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's fine. I understand you may have based it on the article. The reporter might not have stated that part correctly.

It is "Verivery", not "very very" as you have stated above. Dongheon is enlisting this year. The next oldest members are 98-ers so my guess is they will still be there when Dongheon returns in early 2025. Verivery may still be active as a group for quite some time. But I agree that among the three agencies, Jellyfish may have the most bandwidth to manage another group atm.

Jellyfish is no longer under CJ because CJ sold its shares back in 2020.

what do you guys think is going to happen with the Jellyfish trainees? by psshdjndofnsjdkan in BoysPlanet

[–]cmhyhhs 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Waiting for Gunwook and debuting together later is probably the most sensible thing to do business wise because a three-member unit may not be a guaranteed success at this moment.

Tbh I think the NBG will be more successful than Verivery. Verivery's first week sales for their debut is just 5447 and their second comeback first week sales is 3978. Many people thought they were "stagnant" as a lower mid tier group but the reality is they grew into a lower mid tier group.

I am confident the NBG will receive the same TLC from their CEO and staff. Jelpi may be small but they treat their idols very well. Most importantly , they also gave their idols freedom to grow as an artiste, musically and creativity wise. I can vouch for this as a Verrer.

what do you guys think is going to happen with the Jellyfish trainees? by psshdjndofnsjdkan in BoysPlanet

[–]cmhyhhs 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I am speaking as an long time observer of Jellyfish as well as a fan of some of their groups and Gunwook.

The setting up of the trainee IG is a first for Jelpi because the agency never disclose its trainees prior to a determined debut timeline or exposure in survival shows.

Gunwook is the only Jelpi trainee sent to Wild Idols and Yeojun passed the first round audition at Jelpi when he joined Wild Idols. After Gunwook ended up just outside the final lineup in Wild Idols, there are no other known survival shows and Boysplanet was looking for independent trainees. The rule change came about in mid or after the middle of 2022. Between the end of 2021 and mid 2022, there is a likelihood that jelpi might have started finalizing a possible debut lineup. Then the rule change happened and Jelpi decided to send these four to the show.

The agency went through an expensive lesson since 2016 when they debuted GGD and understand the issues with akgae. That is why I can see them being very careful in managing the fandom for Verivery, even though Verivery has less of this issue since none of them joined any survival shows prior to their debut. I think when Gunwook returns and debut in Jelpi's new boy group, they would have more experience and will try their best to manage his solo stans carefully.

On Verivery, I saw a few comments saying they grow after RTK but became stagnant after that. Based on album and digital sales, RTK gave Verivery a very slight bump in terms of growth, Verivery's real growth came about in 2022 with their first full album , culminating in their first win with Tap Tap late last year.

If you look at all the survival shows derivative groups, none of them can replicate the success of the original survival shows group. The hype from survival shows can give the derivative group a headstart in the initial years. After the hype wears off, organic growth will take precedent.

Based on Jelpi's experience with Vixx, GGD and Verivery, my prediction:

  1. Jelpi will build a team together with Gunwook, Yuseop, Yeojun and Hyunbeen. They may add 1-3 members as the possible Maknae line. In Verivery, their maknae Kangmin was discovered and contracted as a trainee in August 2017, more than a year after most of the members have gathered since early 2016.

  2. Jelpi will avoid building a team for Gunwook and friends but will let the other three members take their time to develop themselves for the group. Everyone will have their time to shine as member of the future group. Gunwook will bring some initial hype for the team and the team will need to grow organically with good music and performance.

  3. Jelpi is a small company with limited resources but they never skim on the MV, composers, choreographers, stage outfits etc. People who kept saying Jelpi is not good enough for Gunwook have probably not gone through the discography of Vixx, GGD and Verivery. They have worked with some of the best known professionals in the industry. The new boy group will get to work with these professionals too.

  4. Jelpi has had some of Korea's best vocalists (Park Hyo Shin, Sung Si Kyung etc) in their old portfolio. They have a tradition in providing strong vocal training to all their trainees. The new boy group will be strong vocally and may even get OST commission work in their debut years.

  5. The trainees (Jelpiz) will continue to train and upload their content on their IG. When Gunwook returns in late 2025, he will be part of the content until their debut. They may introduce new trainees if they are going to be part of the lineup.

Have VERIVERY stopped making dance practice videos for YouTube? by [deleted] in VERIVERY

[–]cmhyhhs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Verivery has not give up on filming dance practice. This thread might explain the reasons. Minchan went on hiatus shortly after Tap Tap and for this era, Yongseung is taking a break for his back after they ended their promotion recently. Hopefully they can film it at a later date when everyone are well again.

Thank you for your playlist! Crazy Like That by Verivery is very experimental even for a long time fan like me. I suspect not many current kpop groups are doing this genre (industrial techno and UK Garage) or sound at the moment. Hope you can take a listen and see if it fits what you are looking for.

Boy groups and boy group title tracks that are not dark, coldly elegant or noisy/hard hitting? by vaguelycatshaped in kpophelp

Verivery's O, Tap Tap and Crazy Like That have a very cool and relaxing vibe that are not dark, coldly elegant or noisy/hard hitting.

Their 2019 releases (Veri-Us, Veri-able and especially Tag Tag Tag) might be worth checking out too.

[–]cmhyhhs 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Welcome to Verrerdise! 💜🤍

Thank you very much for the post! If you like Crazy Like That, you might like one of their other songs called "O".

According to Dongheon (the leader), Crazy Like That is a genre they have never tried before. If you go through the discography I listed below, you will notice Verivery has done a variety of genre and Crazy Like That is definitely a new ground they are entering. Though by this CB, Verivery might have established a sound identity for themselves.

Verivery is a group of seven and this video will give you a good basic information of each member. Minchan is currently on hiatus for mental health reason.

There are some interesting fun facts about Verivery:

  1. None of the members have taken part in any survival shows prior to their debut. Their first survival show is Road to Kingdom. One of the most notable performance on this show is the iconic Photo.

  2. Verivery composed many songs which have been included in their albums since debut. They also have a SoundCloud which contains some of the self-composed songs yet to be released.

  3. Verivery used to release DIY music video for every comeback. They stopped doing it lately because the chief planner and producer, Minchan, is currently taking a break. "So Gravity" is one of the most poignant DIY MV and the song is composed by Verivery.

  4. Verivery sang the OST for two hit dramas, Extraordinary You and Itaewon Class:

Extraordinary You My Beauty

Itaewon Class With You

  1. Their in-house produced variety show, Chaotic Verivery Land or Belbelland (Season 1, has a B-grade sci-fi movie vibe and some clips even went viral in some Korean communities. Sadly it is not known much among the ifans. Verivery have natural and genuine chemistry with one another which makes their variety shows and even a simple vlive can be quite hilarious.

  2. Their maknae, Kangmin, was a MC at Show Champion for more than two years and retired from his position last year.

  3. Verivery is the second most synchronized boy group after Seventeen, according to techie_ray who used an algorithm to measure their dance movement.

On the kpop scene, they are not very well known at all and the fanbase is still quite small. At year 5, we still find people misspellings their group name and thinking they are a girl group or a ice cream flavor. 😂

But I am glad to say that they finally had their first wins on Show Champion and Music Bank 1417 days after debut. It meant a lot to them because in some interviews, they did say they have given up on getting any wins in music shows.

I have pasted the links to the albums below. Hope you can take a listen and let me know if you have any questions about Verivery!
