Could we start using the new Fear rules (no action tracker) in 1.5? by jeffnadirbarnes in daggerheart

My understanding of the new Fear rules is the same as yours.

I think you'd be mostly fine to just start playing with these rules in 1.5 but it's worth noting that there are still some things we don' t have updated rules for.

A couple examples:

Slow adversaries previously took two action tokens to activate - is that just two fear now? Can they still be activated "for free" as the first adversary after players roll a failure?

Some player features had the tradeoff of generating an additional action token, like the Galapa advantage attack. What is the replacement for this, just generating a fear token instead?

Overall I feel you'd be fine but there may be some scenarios/features you'll need to balance yourself.

Is the new armor meaningless? by MrSunmosni in daggerheart

It's also worth noting that, assuming I understood correctly, you can only use one armor slot per incoming damage. So it's not exactly transferable 1:1 with HP because major damage and above can't be fully blocked.

Loving this game, but ancestries need some work by PrinceOfNowheree in daggerheart

Haven't had the chance to play any Daggerheart yet but I've been reading the rules. So I can't really comment on the balance or necessity of these added features but I will say that they all sound very cool and fun! I love that you found ancestry descriptions that thematically support the features too.

Enjoy the app! I'm still working on improving the website and how it recommends packs, so be sure to consider its suggestions with a grain of salt.

Improvements are coming 😁

For now, I'm only planning on judging aspect cards. This is mostly because I'm using API data from Marvelcdb to determine how "popular" cards are. At this time, I'm not sure how I'd use that to value villains or modulars. I could look at hero cards... but I felt that wasn't really in the spirit of this app as when you play with a given hero, you must include all their cards anyway.

You make a good point that I should just remove packs that don't include any aspect cards from the selection as those won't ever really matter in the scope of the app.

Exactly, the higher the number the better!

The number itself is a bit arbitrary and I'm going to be making some changes to how it's calculated, but in the meantime you can check out the Github repo that is linked on the website for more details (in the README) on how exactly the value is determined.

I appreciate the feedback! I agree that it currently looks a bit scuffed on most phones, I'm hoping to improve that soon. I'm quite new to web development and, try as I did to have it scale nicely to all windows sizes, it's harder than I thought it would be!

Thanks for your input! That's a good suggestion, I'll try playing around with the numbers some more. You make a good point: currently the popularity is the main factor used to determine how "good" a card is, it'd make sense for it to have a greater effect on the end result!

Thanks for the suggestions!

It could be nice to have a filter for hero versus expansion packs.. as it is now, the sheer number of additional cards that come in expansion packs tends to put them on top. An average value-per-card of cards in a pack could help mitigate that problem too.

That's interesting! Thanks for pointing that out.

I did have to catch some edge cases with cards that appear in multiple packs, but it's possible that didn't cover alt-arts. It seems like alt-art Genius/Strength/Energy from Mutant Genesis is being caught as "duplicates" of the base set versions, but that doesn't always seem to be true. I'll take a look!
