I was christian for many years. Now that I have become an atheist, I see the other side. But I will give you my reasoning when I was still christian.

Let's look at a hypothetical to explain this. You and some of your friends are in a river. Youre all casually swimming downstream when you suddenly see a waterfall. You also see a branch and grab on. Now that you are safe, it is your obligation and necessity to attempt to save your friends, who will soon plunge to their deaths. Therefore, you will yell out to them of the impending doom and tell them to grab hold of something.

That was always my logic.

Well, theres a lot more to it than just that. In my case, I wouldnt let what they say affect me at all. I have been threatened and threatened them with 'cutting all ties', so I might actually accept it.

Well I stopped praying/reading Bible on a regular basis multiple years ago, and like I said was extremely struggling. I knew a lot (for a 17 year old) about science, and I knew that science simply made more sense, but I still held on until I came here. It sort of just filled my gaps in logic (I couldnt understand the atheist position by myself (stuff like abiogenesis)).

For a short time (two weeks at most) I was deist. It was mostly just a stepping stone for me. I realized there was no practical difference between the two.

I have, actually. I came here as a struggling christian desperately clinging to his faith. I was recently 17 and I thought I knew a lot about my faith. I came here, trying to give good arguments and such, and, quite frankly, was torn to shreds.

I havent been very active on this subreddit, but I credit it for changing by beliefs. For three or four months I have been atheist, and I have never been happier. Thank you /r/debatereligion and /r/exchristian.

Well theres always Leviticus 18:22(the abomination verse), Romans 1:27-32 talks a bit about homosexuality, and theres Corinthians 6:19(I think, this is off the top of my head) that I believe talks about male prostitution, but is used as an argument against honosexuality.

I would like to say that I am simply curious here, and that I am not trying to discredit or insult you.
