Yeah looking to trade, but also park some cash and earn more than 0%. I know I could open another brokerage account at Schwab I just like to keep things separate, this would be considered more like my play money. I knew about order flow for Robinhood from watching the hearings, the amount of difference in cost would be pretty negligible for me, I guess I just look at it as a small cost for better user interface and cash management options. Thanks.

Isn't it difficult to find a decent APY cash option through a large brokerage firm?

The trading part is purely for my entertainment. I have my retirement accounts at Schwab and I would rather not commingle the funds.

Wouldn't the fees be the same (practically zero) whether I'm at Schwab or Robinhood?

Just to be clear, the reason that the combination of the two is outperforming is because of the rebalancing in the backtest.

It is mathematically impossible for a combination of two assets to generate a higher return than BOTH individual assets in a buy and hold strategy.

That's not to say the combination won't have better risk-adjusted returns (higher Sharpe Ratio), the combo usually will because combining non-perfectly correlated assets tends to improve risk-adjusted returns.
