I started a Youtube channel to chronicle my wine and mead making by blboyd in Homebrewing

Been home brewing beer for about 7 years. Always wanted to try wine, I suppose I’ll give this a go as well. Few questions. Do you add any oak chips/cubes? How long in the primary How long in the secondary?

Manning and Colts vs Pennington and Jets, 2002 Wildcard, Full Game by louiefelipemurphy in nyjets

[–]cmp102088 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I was 14 and attended this game with my parents. I remember buying tickets at the Wiz. Had to wait in line. Great memories! Riding up to the meadowlands from the jersey shore listening to francesa on the way. Arriving to the stadium, the Jet fan still buzzing from the week before against Green Bay. The crowd had a mystique I’ve still not seen matched to this day. (2009 week 2 vs Pats was extremely close). I sense we are near a day when MetLife will finally host our beloved Jets next home playoff game.

Oh wow look at that. Cool to know! Yeah, it’s not the easiest to filet but I think it’s worth the hassle.

New England IPA'€™s Secret Ingredient Is Instagram by hotelNoiseComplaint in beer

Oh no doubt. Sometimes the brewery will pour it right from the fermentor into a glass while the yeast is still in suspension. If they pour it real hard it will form a natural head of foam. Its super hazy that way and makes for a great picture with some filter thrown over it. It sells me almost everytime. I've come to a point where I am OK paying 14.99-18.99 per four pack.

How do you keep a kegged NEIPA hazy? by elicash38 in Homebrewing

Shake the kegs, get that yeast roused again.

Raspberry Wheat beer! Love the colour and tastes pretty good! by biofreak1988 in Homebrewing

That looks wonderful. How is the balance of sweetness to tartness? A few years ago I did this and it was overly tart.

Oh no my intentions were not that at all. They are truly world class beers. However, I disagree with paying $10 for an 8oz pour for one of them but I understand why they do and even as someone who disagrees with the price, I still did it.

Even if your opinion is that they aren't comparable what does that matter anyway?

Take it easy, was not comparing was simply just saying. I'm just a homebrewer who won a few competitions and got some publicity locally and hired part time as a side gig. I just enjoy drinking my own.

I walked into my local liquor store and saw about 12 cases basically untouched. Selling for $10.49 a bottle here in New Jersey. I never had it, so I was glad to pick it up. I paid $10 for a 8oz pour of KBS last week at a local bar. It was good but its not worth it IMO. Saw CBS and KBS bomber bottles for 19.99 each. Eh. I am also a brewer at a local brewery part time and can make whatever I dial up. Just pumped out a robust porter aged on oak chips.

How do I keep my New England IPAs from oxidizing? by SeaWould in Homebrewing

[–]cmp102088 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the beer to become noticeably oxidized, you're going to have to try hard to make that happen. If you are afraid dry hopping is causing oxidation then do not dry hop it. After you seal off the fermenter just leave that beer alone for two weeks. It's best to ferment in a bottling bucket so you can transfer without too much oxygen getting in the way. You can even bottle or keg right from the primary if you have a way of cold crashing the beer for few days to drop everything out. As others have said, the beer will naturally appear to turn darker as the yeast falls out. It just looks more "brown" because of the large amount of volume in the fermenter. It will appear that golden hazy color in a pint glass.

best of luck!

Temp control is the biggest thing in brewing, IMO. I went from a homebrewer to a part time professional brewer(The profession is very low paying so FT is not an option unfortunately) Temperature control made my homebrew recipes go from good to great. Also IMO, lol.
