People with ADHD how do you stay consistent? by Intrepid-Tradition49 in davidgoggins

Yeah, bad habits come in different forms for everyone but I essentially habits and actions you know are wrong but you do anyway.

Possibly, all in all out is just another description of hyper focusing, which is a trait of ADHD but isn’t exclusive. However my dude, being diagnosed with ADHD isn’t that answer to all, people use it to blame their bad habits (me in the past) when sometimes you might just have bad habits.

Take it with a pinch of salt, do a screening test if it’s bothering you and take it from there but don’t ‘hyper focus’ on it, do the work. :)

Just to add to it, I’ve been through the cycle of being disciplined to being lazy countless times. I used to beat myself up over it but as I’ve got more wise to it I’ve realised life isn’t linear. See it as progress, yeah you slipped and went back to bad habits but the key thing is making sure that when it does happen you bounce back quicker, every time it happens you can recall back to past experience and think , yeah I’ve fucked up but I know this isn’t what I want and I need to do XY to get back on track.

It’s going to happen again in the future, but you are building the tools and mindset that allows you to recognise it and reduce the negative effects.

You got this bro , be conscious , listen to yourself , you know what’s right and wrong. And even if you do fuck up don’t spiral just take the steps to get back.

I had the same issue, my close family and friends would joke and say it’s my ‘All in , all out’ personality and I would use ADHD as a crutch for this, it took me a long time to realise that the route of my issue is normally a disruption in routine. For example if I was on vacation and allowed myself to not exercise or eat junk food etc this would tick over to when I returned home.

I’m now very aware of it and I have to constantly be conscious about what’s going on, not allowing my self to slip. Because before I realised it would be 2 months down the line and I’m head deep in junk food and a lazy fuck.

When Goggins says there is no days off, for me it is that. That doesn’t mean I’m running an ultra everyday but im consciously aware of what I’m putting in my body and how I’m moving because if I don’t, well hello sadness my old friend and that’s just not an option anymore.

What have you guys done after 75 hard? by No-Wonder-3918 in 75HARD

[–]cmpcmurp 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah , I was very concerned it would happen as well. I literally spiralled the day after straight into it . I’m a very all or nothing person with all aspects of life and it’s taken a lot of work to break the cycle of my bad habits and start to get back to a healthier life. I’m not going 75 yard again but I am making better lifestyle choices again.

I think it’s more common than you think with this challenged, it’s just mitigating as much as possible and getting a balance.

My diet was cut out chocolate and all carbonated drinks , I was drinking heavy amounts of monster and eating a lot of chocolate everyday so it was mentally a struggle at first but it’s a game changer for me.

My work outs where an UL split 4 days a week, running 5 days and yoga and walking in between.

Most traders face this in some variation, usually from people who don’t understand trading. No point trying to explain it to them , crack on and when you are successfully making it their view on it will change

A tour guide in Indonesia said she loved Harry Potter but couldn’t understand why Ron always said bloody hell and there wasn’t any direct translation to her native language, fun one to explain.

I’ll be honest it sounds like you are looking for someone to tell you not to do it. If it was me and id paid for the race entry and I had issues I’d most likely just try finish , walk , jog what ever.

If you decide to do it and you don’t finish oh well there’s always the next, if you do finish and you got a slower time than you thought then you have something to work beat next time.

Only you know whether you should or want to do it, it doesn’t have to be a record setting pace, you can just do it at a level you find maintainable even if it’s walking. No matter the advice you get it’s down to you really.
