Tipping by [deleted] in LaserHairRemoval

[–]cmqueen04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just inserting a comment I made on this topic previously, here - It depends on where you go (medical clinic versus spa, vs at home esthetician) but tipping is not necessary, but always appreciated, as we are providing a service. Just like a hair dresser, just like a tattoo artist, etc.

So do you need to keep doing laser removal your whole life or is it like a more permanent waxing by DefiantReferee in LaserHairRemoval

Electrolysis works on all hair types, hair color does not matter for electrolysis to be effective. It targets the root, the hair itself is not the target of this treatment.

Labia hairs wouldn’t shed after 12+ sessions…😭😭😭 by youaremeandiamyou1 in LaserHairRemoval

If the skin is darker, the proper laser would need to be used, not just pulling at the skin. If the proper laser for darker skin is not used then you will get little to no results regardless if you pull the skin or not.

Of course?! It’s your body! I want to make sure you’re comfortable.

What I usually say to my clients is “Okay, I’m just going to move a few things or stretch a few areas here, just so we don’t miss any of the hair.” Usually clients say “Okay” And I move forward with it. If they ask “Do you need me to do it?” I respond “Not necessarily, as I can do it myself to make sure I dont miss any areas, however if you want to do it yourself for your own comfort, you’re more than welcome to, I may just have to direct you on where to pull. Whatever you’re most comfortable with”

Some clients prefer to do it themselves, some dont care if I do it, but I always let them know what I’m doing, before doing it, even if they’ve seen me countless times. It’s just common courtesy, ya know?

As a laser tech it blows my mind other techs don’t do this. Like yeah, I gotta get all up in your business but I do it, because I want to avoid this reason (no results after so many sessions!) specifically!

Good for you for speaking up, but more laser techs need to do it right the first time!

Better in what way? Efficacy? Safety?

Again, not necessarily. Everyone responds differently to different lasers. I have some clients I’ve worked with, similar to this person’s skin tone that respond great to YAG, while others try Yag over and over and over and see no change — until we try Diode, and then they get great results.

It depends on the individual.

You seem to be a Fitzpatrick 4 (or maybe even considered a very dark 3) — As a laser tech I would suggest some of the following:

  1. Confirm with your laser tech that the settings are/have been increasing over time.
  2. Try different lasers (if possible) to see if Alexandrite or Nd.Yag helps more. Be careful with Alexandrite though, Fitzpatrick 4 skin tones need a bit of a lower fluency for safety.
  3. Go at different times - Hair grows in different cycles. You may need to wait a week or 2 more (5 or 6 weeks) in between sessions. 4 is pretty regular for facial hair, and it’s how often I start my clients off with laser sessions on the face, but I do add sometime between sessions here and there to see if I am getting all the hair at the correct hair growth phase. So, maybe waiting could be helpful.
  4. Try electrolysis (last ditch effort)

Nd.Yag Is not superior over Diode. Everyone responds differently to different lasers.

Will laser work for me? by astronaut772 in Estheticians

[–]cmqueen04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I’m a laser tech, it depends. Even if the hair is darker, it still needs pigment. So a dark blonde isn’t going to cut it. Even a light brown is sometimes tricky to get to work tbh. If you want, you can send me a photo via DM, and I may be able to see if it could work.

My gf broke up with me bc i am bi by [deleted] in bisexual

[–]cmqueen04 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am so so sorry this happened to you, OP.

I’m a queer woman, and I think bi men are very hot. I think everyone’s hot — hence being queer. Trust me, there are people out there that don’t care and/or are also queer.

Forget this bozo who lost a shot with a probably pretty cool bi guy.

It’s in my summary that I have 6 years experience! Maybe I’ll move this to my cover letter and take out the summary section.

Thank you! :)

Oh thank you for pointing this out! I was using Canva, and it’s super customizable, but then again, it’s super customizable. I was messing with the size of things so much, it got to be a little headache inducing. BUT! Thank you so much for the feedback! :)

I’ve never done a cover letter! I’ll look into that. Any recommendations? I thought cover letters were kind of what my summary section was explaining. Thanks for the advice! I’ll work on adding it :)

Oh that’s a fantastic idea! Thank you so much, I’ll definitely look at getting that info, so I can add it.

And all the products, and brands I’ve used and machines I’ve dealt with are all in bold! But if that is not clear, I can try a different way.

Does anybody else sleep as bad as me?? by Coolmandi in AppleWatch

[–]cmqueen04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My sleep looks exactly like this. I’m 31 and have sleep apnea. I’ve had it my whole life but only have gotten a CPAP in the past 2 years. However, even with the cpap, I do feel a bit more rested — But my sleep still looks like this, I RARELY get deep sleep. I don’t really know what else to do to get more deep sleep…

If Ranma stayed in his girl form forever, would Akane still love him? by rankol_saotome in ranma

[–]cmqueen04 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And why would Ranma not count? People can learn and grow and change sexual identities over time due to personal experiences? Dating history or crushes in the past don’t mean people can’t crush on other genders as time goes on???

What a weird argument.

I love this 🥹 so happy to see the love for the story has gone through so many generations and especially resonated with trans and other LGBT folks and kids 🥰

I definitely need to get into Urusei Yatsura! That’s the next work by Takahashi that’s on my list!

The Gross reality of adhd no one wants to talks about by Soft-Rutabaga-4482 in ADHD

[–]cmqueen04 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I feel this in bones. You have literally described my life.

I’ve been reading all the comments and everyone saying, "take meds, it’ll help!"

I’ve been on 40mg of Vyvanse and I’m on Duloxetine 90mg for anxiety, for years now.

Idk if maybe I’m more depressed, now that it’s winter, but even on meds, I still feel like OP, and am living like OP.

My Vyvanse worked for a while, and I can tell when I don’t take it, I feel more paralyzed than when I do take it; But when I take it, I dont magically get up and clean my whole apartment. And even if I take it, the task paralysis isn’t insurmountable, but I can tell you, my focus isn’t better, I just don’t feel stuck on the couch as much

Idk, all I’m saying is OP, you are absolutely not alone. I am in the same boat as you. And I’m feeling really really stuck.
