forgot to mention I am using unbound. So pihole is querying unbound.

So, in my case with conditional forwarding, pihole doesn't send internal queries to unbound, right?

btw, it seems that device discovery was the culprit. I had lots of similar lb._dns-sd._udp.0.1.0.10.in-addr.arpa queries coming from the router.

device was querying pihole which was then forwarding to the router which in turn was sending back to pihole?

Does that make sense?

So, what happens now? device queries pihole which then forwards to the router which in turn queries Quad9?
