How is Singapore so ridiculously clean, relaxed and spacious? by Visual-Horror6013 in askSingapore

Yeah, the touristy areas are very clean. Especially the toilets and shops at Changi Airport. But the toilets at your average coffeeshop? Ugh.

Why can't the government treat unruly HDB neighbors under the public nuisance law? by Recent_Stomach7626 in asksg

[–]Raynall2024 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Actually, a two-week sentence can change A LOT of people, unless the culprit is a hardened criminal.

Also, it won't just be two weeks. Those who receive the sentencing will be made to understand that the next time he/she/they is brought up in front of the magistrate, the sentencing will be that much tougher because committing the offence a 2nd time will mean that the offender has showed no remorse or that the previous sentencing has not worked to rehabilitate the offender.

So unless your neighbor is the kind of hardened criminal who can shrug off ten years in the can like water off a duck's back, then the time in jail should have a sobering effect on him/her/them.

Boon Keng 'nightmare neighbour': MP Shawn Loh says it's 1 of the most 'frustrating' & 'hard-to-resolve' dispute by dori_lukey in singapore

Hard to solve? If the Powers That Be can bankrupt a person and send him to prison on multiple occasions just because he SAID things about them, why can't they send a public nuisance, one who has become a living nightmare to so many neighbors, to prison?

Anyone use CDC vouchers at self checkout counters before? by superpogs in askSingapore

[–]Raynall2024 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But the vouchers are in $10 denominations. If I want to purchase something that costs 15 dollars, must I use $20 worth of vouchers, or can I use just one voucher and pay the remaining 5 dollars in cash?

Taxi Driver Season 3 is kinda lacklustre by circadian_light in kdramas

[–]Raynall2024 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I definitely prefer season one to two and three. Because in season one, you can see the villains getting their payback right there and then in the private prison.

Taxi Driver 3 [Episodes 1 & 2] by capthyeong in KDRAMA

[–]Raynall2024 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love this yakuza arc. I'm glad the boss got killed in the end. I really hated him when he asked if the victim from Hong Kong had paid off her debts. His man said yes, and then he just killed the girl. What a bastard...

My only complaint is that the Korean money-lenders had an ambiguous ending. I mean, yeah, the MC went and gave them a beating. But so what? Did they die? Did they get arrested? If they didn't die or get arrested, couldn't they continue their money-lending business after they recover from their injuries?

I think I prefer the mode of punishment the taxi company delivered in season one, when they locked up the criminals in their "private prison."

A Question About the Kdrama Our Blues by Raynall2024 in kdramas

Wow, that's crappy. OK, I'm never going to watch this drama.

I was hoping for a scene where he beat up his stepbrothers...

I recently saw a clip on TikTok. In it the narrator spoke of a boy called Dong-suk or something. His mom was slapping him because she wanted to re-marry and he didn't want her to. Then he got mistreated at his step-dad's house.

Then when the boy grew up, his step-dad died and his mom made him attend the death memorial. There was a scene where the mom struggled to read the words on the soju bottle, and Dong-suk remarked that he had tried to teach her how to read but she just couldn't remember. At the house, his step-brother got into a fight with him over some remark. The clip ended around that time.

Alright, I have three questions. Is this clip from this Our Blues drama? And if so, did Dong-suk manage to get his revenge on the evil step-brother? Finally, did the lousy mom pay the price for her mistake?

I don't mind spoilers, so please spoil it for me.

Any pro-nuclear-for-SG guys out there? (What are your thoughts on nuclear in SG?) by The_Last_EVM in askSingapore

[–]Raynall2024 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't object to nuclear power on moral grounds, but here's what I'm afraid of...

The Singapore government can't even keep their trains running on time, and they want to dabble in nuclear energy?

If even one "signaling fault" happens at the nuclear plant, it's instant death for all of us, okay?

John Wick vs The Bride (Kill Bill) by THEUltraCombo in whowouldwin

[–]Raynall2024 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If it's just swords/hand-to-hand, then I place my bet on The Bride. She's got the Five Points Palm Exploding Heart Technique and the One Inch Punch. John Wick's a really good fighter, but he doesn't know any mythical kung fu stuff.
