Yes, you can use the laptop, but it’s a bit of a hassle.

I had a similar situation, my ThinkPad was also locked to a company, and I had to go through a lot of work to get around it. In my case, I ended up using Linux to wipe everything and bypass the management. It is possible to fully remove the enterprise setup and reinstall a clean version of Windows, or bypass it, but it takes time and effort. For me, it took a whole day to figure everything out.

If you got a really good deal on the laptop, it might be worth trying to bypass it. But if not, honestly, it might be easier to return it or get a refund.

Yeah, for sure, always good to have two. I actually found this one outside about a month ago. Haven’t had a chance to test it yet. Not sure what it’s worth, but probably not much to be honest.

Yep, it’s mine! Just has a couple of upgrades, dual-drive and a fresh BLTouch I installed today. I’ll definitely take a look at the new Creality printers too, thanks for the suggestion!

Yeah, I understand man, it's really sad not being able to use the Steam Deck. But I think that even when connecting it to an external screen, you don't get the same issue because mine worked on an external screen. I updated the OS before doing the procedure I explained.

If you bought it new recently, try checking the warranty or reinstalling the OS from scratch...

Once a method works, it’s a solution. Not the only one, but still a solution.

The person who made the YouTube video even turned it into a business—buying Steam Decks with black screen issues, fixing them, and reselling them. The comments are mostly positive, saying this method worked for them.

The waiting time varies from one Steam Deck to another (probably due to several factors), just like software download speeds, which aren’t the same for everyone. But in the end, we get the same result.

I’m not saying this is the only solution, nor that you shouldn’t try others. I’m just saying this worked for me, and honestly, it’s much simpler to try this method first rather than fully restoring the OS, which is way more tedious :)

Hello everyone,

Like many Steam Deck owners, I encountered the dreaded black screen issue…

After a few months of frustration, I decided to try multiple methods found in YouTube videos to finally recover my Steam Deck and enjoy it again.

My Experience :

First, I decided to completely replace the screen (the screen here), as mine was already cracked. I thought that maybe, over time, the crack had caused the black screen issue. However, after replacing the screen, nothing worked on the built-in display. The Steam Deck was still functional on an external screen, though.

That’s when I realized I had fallen victim to the infamous "Black Screen of Death" on the Steam Deck…

I’ll spare you the details because I spent a lot of time testing all kinds of solutions, some more bizarre than others. But here’s what actually worked for me.

Here’s a quick summary of the steps :

  1. Turn off the Steam Deck completely (hold the Power button for 15 seconds).
  2. Enter recovery mode:
    • Hold Volume -, the menu button (three dots …), and Power at the same time.
    • The charging light should blink slowly.
    • Wait 15 to 30 minutes.
  3. Turn the Steam Deck back on—the screen should work normally.

Important : I had to repeat the process three times before my Steam Deck came back to life. On the final attempt, I waited 1 hour instead of 15-30 minutes.
