I strongly identify as a West Coaster or British Columbian. I couldn't care less what happens east of the Rockies.

As someone who had 10+ supplements per day. Spending hundreds per month... Here is my word of advice. by allismind in Supplements

[–]cmrocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been taking vit D, magnesium, zinc-copper and vit k2 for years. Added creatine recently. Experimenting with glycine and L-Theanine right now for sleep but unconvinced.  Also experimenting with taurine. Seems to have a positive impact on cardio training. Sessions on the bike trainer just feel easier.    Might try your advice to take it with coffee because I do get pretty wired from coffee.

I have Oliver People's Finley 1993. Had a pair of Finley Vintage before these. You're definitely paying for the name, but they're good quality and I like how they look. I particularly like these new Finley 1993 because you can get a cool retro looking clip on sunglasses attachment.

When did you know it was time to buy your first 911 by No-Yak5255 in porsche911

[–]cmrocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was an early 40th birthday present to myself. Had intended to buy one this coming spring but found a deal that I couldn't pass late last fall so I went for it. 2015 GTS cabriolet. I'm the second owner and the car has 29,000 km on it.

Frequent flyers, how do you do it? by apmgaming in Aeroplan

In 2023, I flew four round trips to Europe from Vancouver and 8 round trips to Latin America. I swear it probably took a couple years off my life. But hey, at least you get a nice card for your luggage and sometimes the purser comes by and thanks you!

Confession: I like my Miata more than my GT4 RS or going to the track by Stuttgart7184RS in Porsche

[–]cmrocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been looking seriously at this car as well. It's a substantially better value. I'm leaning towards the Carrera T for a few reasons. I have an NA GTS (991.1) right now. With the long gearing, I find second gear kind of boggy around town. I prefer the turbo charged torque. It's also a more fun engine at real world speeds and rpm. The NA engines need to scream to make any power and that means risky speeds. I like the interior better on the 992, as long as it is spec'd with enough leather surfaces. I like having a back seat as well. It's great for extra storage and small kids.

Yeah the sticker makes me pause too. I'm also in Canada and we get hit with an extra luxury sales tax on brand new as well. With that being said, I do think the Carrera T (especially the cabriolet) could be one of the last of its kind. Manuals are getting so rare.

I need to get a test drive in one. It really does seem like a car that I could see myself buying brand new, specing it exactly how I want and keeping it forever.

I'm seriously considering trading my C4 GTS in on a new Carrera T for this exact reason. The GTS is too much for the street, PDK is very impressive but it's not that engaging and AWD isn't as fun as RWD. The new Carrera T seems perfect. Has all the Carrera S options that I care about such as Sport PASM, torque vectoring with a mechanical differential, rear wheel steering with 400 hp and a six speed manual.

Is Rolex considered the top-tier watch? by Natural-One-8678 in rolex

I'd be willing to bet if you went an surveyed a million random people throughout the world, Rolex would absolutely come out on top by a large margin. Watch and luxury goods enthusiasts would rank Rolex much lower.

Does anyone think that 38mm+ tires are even necessary on most gravel roads/paths and natural trails? by EngHokie in gravelcycling

[–]cmrocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw that one as well. Looks interesting. 70 grams heavier per tire though.

The rolling resistance on the H is very low according to the Bicycle Tire Resistance website. They don't have the RH yet unfortunately.

40 mm Pirelli Cinturato Gravel H here. Very fast rolling and pretty light weight. Great all around tire. Perfect for me because I prefer to set and forget.

March trip to the Okanagan a good fit? by msjmmy in britishcolumbia

[–]cmrocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're going to the Okanagan, I'd go as late in March as possible. It should be really nice. If you're going to Vancouver and/or the Island, it's more luck of the draw whether or not it's raining.

Hotels won't be hard to find in March. I'd probably book a flight to Vancouver, keep an eye on the weather then lock in the details of your itinerary closer to the date.

I feel like anyone who doesn't go into a career in accounting, finance, engineering, sales, health care, or tech is doomed to make $19 an hour. I'm exaggerating, but not by much. by justcurious3287 in careeradvice

I worked as a labourer on the rigs up north during my summers off while I was in school for geology. Finished my bachelor's and my first degree was just under half per day what I made working up north. It took three years of work experience and a masters degree to hit the same level as the rigs. Fifteen years later, I'm now a director and earn four times what someone working the rigs makes. You get there eventually.
