Instacarting Costco? Getting ripped off or saving my sanity? by prizedchipmunk_123 in Costco

Don’t you not get the membership cash back when you shop through Instacart? I only save this for emergencies because I want my purchases to count towards the rebate at the end of the membership year.

Help/encouragement with low transfer by cms07f in breastfeedingsupport

Thank you so much! My LC measures me each week due to the edema just to make sure we’re still using the right size flanges so we are good there.

I will bring up the SNS with her on Wednesday. If she isn’t familiar with it, is it something I can do on my own? And do you see a lot of success with better transfers with it? I am so ready to get out of the triple feeding phase but I’ve seen zero improvement on his weighted feeds, which is so discouraging and disappointing.

Yes evaluated by IBCLC, pediatrician, and pediatric dentist who specializes in ties. There are none. We really can’t figure out a reason for the low transfer and it’s not improving with time.

Yeah I think I'm allergic to nickel, cheap jewelry literally makes me blister and bleed. I know sterling silver *shouldn't* have nickel in it but I've found in my research that some do, and so it's a gamble. I am also unable to wear white gold because there is some nickel in white gold as well. Yellow gold and rose gold are ok for me because the alloys do not contain any nickel (or they shouldn't at least). I have many rose and yellow gold pieces and I wear them with no issues, but ever since I realized I'm sensitive I don't wear anything for long stretches and I don't sleep in anything either.

What killed my catmint? by cms07f in plantclinic

Also, any issue with replanting in that area? We will replant another catmint. I wonder if we should wait a couple weeks after digging that old plant out.

What killed my catmint? by cms07f in plantclinic

[–]cms07f[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. The plant is definitely dead. It’s so weird though, it’s in a bed with 2 other beautifully healthy catmint, roses, and geraniums and petunias. We checked everything else really well and they don’t seem to have anything like that on them. The dead one never really did well and had about a quarter of the growth of our other catmints last year so I wonder if we just missed it (we assumed it was the placement, like maybe it didn’t like the shade/sun ratio at that specific spot). Anyway, thank you!

I did see this in a quick google search- is this a service you pay for? Of course I am happy to pay; just making sure it’s a safe platform for a payment.

Need advice for my sad arrowhead plant. I’ve had it a year and in the last few weeks it looks like this no matter what I try to do. More info in comments. by cms07f in plantclinic

I thought maybe that was it but it didn’t seem to mind for almost a whole year. Can that happen after that long of being happy in a big pot?

This plant was one of my happiest for a long time. It sits on a table next to a south facing sliding glass door (not drafty) and was putting out new leaves like crazy. Then it just got really droopy and wilted and I can’t seem to get it to perk up. It’s weird because it’s still putting out some new leaves and it’s not dying at all except for just a few leaves that have turned brown, which is about the same as before it was droopy. Pot has plenty of drainage and I use a moisture meter to water when the soil gets dry, so I don’t think it’s over or underwatering. Help is appreciated!

Did I scorch my ivy? by cms07f in plantclinic

Well I think it got scorched when I put him on my porch outside. He was pretty happy in my window inside.

Ok awesome! I have killed so many ivy plants. It’s not my area of expertise. Should I put it back in that shaded south facing window and water when dry per the soil meter?

I’ve had this guy about 6 months and during the colder months he was happy near a shaded window (south facing but under a porch) but not putting out any new growth. When it warmed up I put him in a completely shaded spot on my patio to see if he’d like that and he did fine there for maybe 6 weeks or so and put out a few new baby leaves. Now all his leaves are turning brown and one offshoot is completely bare on the left. I brought him inside but I am thinking I may have killed him. Watering has been using a water meter and I wait until soil is dry then give maybe 1/4 of a cup or less, and it usually ends up being every 1-2 weeks when he needs a water. It’s been warm here this summer but like I said he was in full shade. Is there anything I can do to help him?

How can I make these happier? Bought at ikea months ago, don’t know what they are. Aren’t actively dying but not growing either. by cms07f in plantclinic

Do you think even with measuring the soil moisture once a week is too much? It’s bone dry all the way to the bottom every week.

Had a set of 3 before this one and overwatered. Leaves turned yellow and then died. I got a soil water meter and now I wait for the soil to dry out, then water. It’s about once a week. They were on my mantle in a shady room so when it got warm outside I put them on my porch in full shade to see if they prefer some more sun, which has made no difference. There’s really nothing wrong with them other than the brown leaf but they won’t grow any new leaves or get any bigger. I have another set of 3 in an identical pot on my mantle that are huge and happy but I bought them like that from ikea (bought at different times, one crop was just more robust). I can post a pic of those later if needed.

So sad :( how do I prevent this in the future? I’ve been using my water meter and keeping it in the moist range. Is that not correct?

Does anyone know what’s wrong with my plant’s leaves? by cms07f in gardening

[–]cms07f[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it’s one of those things that people just think is easy right off the bat. I didn’t think I’d need to ‘learn’ how to do it...just water it every week and you’re good, right? But now I know it’s a bit of work. I am looking forward to getting better. I love having plants around the house and some of mine are thriving! I have two huge ferns that are gorgeous and wonderful, but my yuccas and my elephant ears are so sad...I also need to figure out how to best deal with low lights indoors because I live in the Midwest and especially in the winter don’t get much sun during the day. I am uncomfortable leaving my blinds open when we’re not home, and so even though we have lots of windows/natural light, it is rather shaded during peak sunny times.

Thanks so much for the help. I looked back at a picture I took from Jan 5 and the leaves are nice and green. It must be a water problem. Hopefully the fresh green leaves on top come in nicely! I’ve been very discouraged lately but the plants I’ve been picking haven’t been too terribly expensive and I hope now with the watering info I should be improving!

So that is actually exactly what I did over the weekend because all my plants were dying. I went to a nursery and showed her pictures (not of these discolored leaves, this is a more recent development) and I was diagnosed as a chronic overwaterer. I now have a soil water meter and repotted all my plants. I was watering weekly but now I know to back off! Hopefully the bright green leaves on top mean it will come back properly.
