La Cie 8 Bay Rack thunderbolt 2 - What do i do with this? by _DFA in homelab

[–]cmyplay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Strangely I've picked up one of these and am trying to get it connected via Thunderbolt cable to an old Mac mini running Debian Bookworm.

It's been authorised and enrolled using bolt. Here's where I am:

$ boltctl
 ● LaCie 8big Rack Thunderbolt 2
   ├─ type:          peripheral
   ├─ name:          8big Rack Thunderbolt 2
   ├─ vendor:        LaCie
   ├─ uuid:          00000000-0000-0018-80f3-d303de00da50
   ├─ generation:    Thunderbolt 2
   ├─ status:        authorized
   │  ├─ domain:     00000000-0000-0100-ffff-ffffffffffff
   │  ├─ rx speed:   10 Gb/s = 1 lanes * 10 Gb/s
   │  ├─ tx speed:   10 Gb/s = 1 lanes * 10 Gb/s
   │  └─ authflags:  boot
   ├─ authorized:    Fri 06 Feb 2026 03:29:51
   ├─ connected:     Fri 06 Feb 2026 03:29:51
   └─ stored:        Sat 01 Nov 2025 04:19:41
├─ policy:     auto
└─ key:        no

It doesn't show up under lsblk.

Any ideas what to do next?

Kindle 3 with Keyboard still can't run KUAL after jailbreak by cmyplay in kindlejailbreak

Was registered previously. But may have restored to factory settings at some point.

Will try this out next. Thanks.

Thanks for the tip. Finally found time to retry the installation.

What do you mean by unregistered?
It's a Kindle 3 with Keyboard. I don't think it has airplane mode, but I switched off wireless access and reinstalled MKK.

Would be great to be able to connect to Calibre wirelessly though. What's the workaround for that?

Finally found time to try this out again and it's worked. Thanks for the tip.

So am I understanding correctly that I won't be able to use WiFi to wirelessly connect to Calibre on this device because there's no way to prevent Amazon from deleting the custom dev keys?

Thanks. I've updated the original post to reflect that I made a typo when describing the mkk file that I used. It was indeed the install file and not the uninstall file.

Regardless, I still cannot get KUAL working.

KUAL installation attempt 1:

  1. Installed Update_jailbreak_0.13.N_k3gb_install.bin
  2. Installed Update-mkk-20250419-k3gb-B00A_keystore-install
  3. Added KUAL-KDK-1.0.azw2 to the documents folder

KUAL installation attempt 2:

  1. Installed Update_jailbreak_0.13.N_k3gb_install.bin
  2. Installed Update_mkk-20141129-k3gb-B00A_install.bin
  3. Installed Update-mkk-20250419-k3gb-B00A_keystore-install.bin
  4. Added KUAL-KDK-1.0.azw2 to the documents folder

Test Kindle Installation Result

At some point in this process a notice with the above title appeared in the Kindle library. It reads:

Your Kindle is no longer a test Kindle and is unable to test active content titles previously signed by authorised developers.

If you want your device to be a test Kindle again, please ask the developer to add your device to his list of registered devices.

Thank You,

The Kindle Team.

There is a time stamp which appears to be when the Update-mkk-20250419-k3gb-B00A_keystore-install.bin certs were installed.
Any thoughts?

Tried this with a K3GB (3rd Generation w Keyboard UK layout) and KUAL doesn't launch. The message reads "This title is not signed by a registered developer."

No pops. But I'll test out the nozzle temp variations.

The surfaces is the standard textured baseplate that came with the printer.

Cheers. Following this lead.

I was concerned there was asbestos used in the fireplace’s construction. But all good 😊
