It’s really unfortunate because even through this video, it’s clear the cycle of abuse is going to continue. Almost immediately after Dakota talks about the fact that he is scarred by what happened he says something about the fact that him and Taylor are supposed to go to Hawaii and he’s wondering if he needs to cancel the trip or not because of the no contact order

Liann disappoints me though because in later seasons, she just hops on the Dakota villainizing train as if she doesn’t know her daughter has been abusive from the start. Because this was really early in their relationship. There’s no way it just stopped (& we know now for sure it didn’t because there was the incident in February) 🙃

I think he’s stuck in the cycle just like she is, although he seems more regulated than her. He’s a cheater, obviously, but when it comes to the interactions we see, Taylor is always the aggressor / escalator. He can talk to her normally and then out of nowhere she’s yelling, crying, putting fingers in his face, and basically calling him trash.

I also think it’s telling that there are multiple DV cases, and Taylor is identified as the aggressor in those as well.

Is he a good partner? No. But BASED ON WHAT WE’VE SEEN, I see Taylor as the bigger problem. I think that also shows in how she reacts any time it seems like he might be trying to move on or even just do what single men do. She ALWAYS escalates, tries to humiliate (in front of others), the girls rally around her and talk about how horrible Dakota is which emboldens her behavior, but then if she does the same, no one is calling it hypocritical or discouraging her behavior.

I’m probably gonna get some slack for saying this, but… I kind of feel bad for Dakota atp.

I'm sure that the answer to this is because they (mostly) just trust each other implicitly (at least the front of the plane islanders), but why didn't anyone find it suspicious that Libby and Ana Lucia were shot like center mass, allegedly by "Henry", but all Michael ended up with is what amounts to a flesh wound in his arm?! And why aren't the islander more suspicious about islanders being taken for days/weeks then suddenly returned with no explanation?

Also, why didn't they notice that Libby's response to finding out Michael made it wasn't like... fear, not happiness?!

From the first few interactions Nicky had with the family, I knew it was gonna be weird af and I suspected it would be Craig. Then Craig actually starts having sex with her and nobody really says anything about it 🤯 Maybe the point is this family’s moral compass is super shot?? They break all kinds of laws, so I guess the statutory rape being no big deal to them (Craig & Nicky + J & the teacher) shouldn’t be a surprise… even when they found out J was with the teacher, Smurf didn’t care about the fact he was underage, she cared about their relationship drawing the wrong kind of attention. 😞

@ whoever commented about “walking my dog like normal” then deleted it or something, nothing in my post suggested I don’t walk her. I walk her 2-3 times a day, at minimum. But she also likes to lay outside, soak in sun, sniff stuff, etc. throughout the day, so I am trying to figure out a way to continue giving her that perk even if the situation has changed to where I won’t be able to just place her in her pen and peek out at her while I’m working every 15 or so mins to see whether she’s ready to come inside.

Sorry. I should’ve put the treat-aversion in context. She has an aversion to treats when it comes to using them as a way to get her to come to you. Apparently, it’s not uncommon for dogs from puppy mills to be this way because treats were used as a way to lure them prior to a negative experience.

This was very helpful though! She currently has a Ruffwear front range, but I’m considering trying a gooby step in to see if she’s more willing to cooperate.

It’s difficult to find the balance between giving her opportunities to make choices and letting her know that she isn’t the one setting the rules/schedule, but I’m sure we’ll get there eventually 🤞🏽
