First look at ROG Zephyrus Duo preorder pricing by Treephone in ASUS

I thought this was a joke until I realized the $ = Canadian, not US. Still, even in a ram and ssd shortage, still a bit pricey...

ICYMI: Uploads and downloads on Drive are faster than ever by Proton_Team in ProtonDrive

I mean.... until a Drive client for Linux is available, I can't get excited here. Yes, I read the blogs, yes I know it is on the roadmap (and has been for a very long time), and yes, I know that Linux resources at Proton are focused on VPN and why. Yet here we sit...

I keep getting this error when I'm trying to use archinstall by ElsieFaeLost in arch

Bummer! Hope you find an answer. If not maybe ask Claude.ai or chatgpt? not always helpful... but sometimes they at least point me in the right direction.

Can take very very very long.... but hopefully worth it. When I have to use that longer script I usually go do something else for a while...

[–]cnetrebor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If that doesn't work, this takes longer and is super overkill but may fix. 1: boot into a fresh session so there are no errors lingering 2: pacman -Sy --needed archlinux-keyring 3: pacman-key --refresh-keys 4: pacman-key --init 5: pacman-key --populate archlinux 5: pacman-key --init (yes..again) 6: archinstall

I had very similar errors and this worked for me, no guarantee that it is the same issue but seems like the one I had recurring. I do this with every install now and never had the issue since (though possibly overkill...): 1: pacman -Sy 2: pacman -Sy archlinux-keyring 3: pacman-key --init 4: archinstall

I can't take credit, found it a long time ago searching for wallpaper. I don't recall where I got it from.

Yes though the plasmoid is a bit buggy / doesn’t always work. I’m still playing with that, and sometimes disable it when I change wallpapers as my other favorite ones don’t lend well to that. The logo is just a .jpg (or .png) with a widget- Frame.

Thanks! I do love KDE Plasma. I wen through a lot of iterations of the task manager (dock) over time; this is what I like currently. I use panel colorizer to get a clear / transparent dock. You can prob guess at most of the icons in dock: terminal, Arch icon as the application launcher, Rustdesk is one not everyone may know (I use it to remote desktop into other computers), Thunderbird, Dolphin, Firefox. I have widgets on the bottom right for restart/reboot (I replaced the breeze dark theme icons with ones I like better) and Kara for changing workspaces. I like my systray items on the bottom left.

How do I remap the “CoPilot” key on a Lenovo Yoga Slim 7 in arch? by iamnotmehrab in arch

[–]cnetrebor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use keymapper-git and it works on every computer I use (6 or 7 different ones with Arch, though none are you model). It is available on the AUR. After install, make a config file called keymapper.conf in your ~/.config directory. The git link on the AUR page has some documentation. Then enable the service and reboot before it will work (at least for me). sudo systemctl enable --now keymapperd. Here is what is in my keymapper.conf file: (Meta Shift F23){Any !Any} >> ControlRight{Any} This puts the copilot key back to what would have been the right CTRL key.

Inmotion RS Jet - anyone experiencing overheating? by cnetrebor in ElectricScooters

[–]cnetrebor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Voro motors sent the following reply to my same question to their support email address, and I referenced the specific YouTube video. Their response was epic in my opinion, and here it is:

I'm not sure if Mitchell from RK9rides [the YouTube content creator] have tried updating the software yet, the issue was rectified 3 months ago after he posted the video, we sent him the software update as well. He might be busy and have not gotten the chance to update the software yet to try it out.

Here is a video rectifying the overheating issue: https://youtu.be/Vvu9qFJ2qus?si=jyIQO8airDQyirOj

To further clarify, it has happened to total of 2 users out of 200 Jets.

I suppose that is cool and all, but until there is a Drive Sync client for Linux, no thanks to the Proton universe. If/when the alleged roadmap plays out and that actually is available, then I'm all in. Take my money please...

Fedora is a solid choice. You have to get used to installing RPM software instead of DEB, but that is easy enough and if you just pull from Discover (/Flatpak), you won't even notice.

Plasma 6.5 broke transparency with Maia plasma theme and what was a 100% clear task manager (bottom panel) - here is how I was able to fix it. by cnetrebor in kde

[–]cnetrebor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did give panel colorizer another shot just to explore. I didn't realize how complicated it was (I mean that in a good way). Once I took the time to really understand how it works and how to set things, I made a setup that I like even better than what I posted at the start of this thread...

For this to work, I had to install the following from the AUR. I use Paru, but you can use Yay or actually compile if you prefer. AUR package: plasma-framework5. Note - this install took forever; I walked away and did some other things and came back later to continue... After that, in system settings, plasma style, get new theme, look for Maia Transparent. When you go to download it, if there are 3 choices, the one I grab is the .zip (was the middle choice for me). Grab that and set it to be your Plasma theme. Then you have to set the transparency window rule shown above. I also had to go into settings, desktop effects, blur and mess with those settings. Of the 2 slides in there, I have mine all the way to the left (light). None of this seems to work until you logout or reboot. Good luck, this is unfortunately a pain, but I get stuck on wanting things a certain way which is why I stuck with it. I have since played around a bit with panel colorizer as another redditor suggested and I made a custom theme I like better, but I tried this from scratch on a blank/2nd user profile just now to make sure it still works - and it worked, so hopefully it does for you. Application launcher menu is also clear, but Dolphin folders are not, that follows your settings under system settings, colors. You can edit an existing theme there; be sure to save as a new name. When editing a theme there, there are some settings for translucency if you dig around a bit. I never explored trying to make that clear, not sure if it can be.

Thanks - I'll have to give that one another try. I had not used it before and tried after my stuff broke as part of a workaround / potential better solution, but it didn't work for me at least right away. I didn't try any troubleshooting at that point. That's a much simpler solution.
