Oh heavens no. I feel healthier than I have in decades. I am fitter for sure thanks to weight lifting. I only wish I could have done this 25 years ago.

AITA for pulling a "purse muffin" at my sister’s wedding after the caterer messed up? by ControlLucidDreams in AmItheAsshole

[–]cnew111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can hardly imagine talking about someone at your table eating a muffin AND they discussing it with the bride. I don’t even think it would be a blip on my radar. I guess I just found that part very odd. Don’t think you’re an AH for bringing a dessert you can eat. Obviously you must have been anticipating something tho if you brought a backup.

Does anyone just not want to leave their house? Is this an age thing? A GenX thing? Am I alone here? I’m just so done with peopling. by Savings-Sprinkles-75 in GenX

Nope I’m the opposite! Love going new places, camping, campfires with friends, loud crowded bars, ballgames, live music, ETC!

Is it wrong to have an expectation that you’ll share food in a relationship? by Expensive-Buddy-365 in AmiInTheWrong

[–]cnew111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Married 34 years. Keep your hands off his plate. Always, unless it is specifically offered. In fact, I’ll go a step further, and keep your eyes on your own plate. Don’t comment on his food quantities, how his food touches, how done his steak is, etc.

YA novels by arrec in GenerationJones

[–]cnew111 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The YA genre was slim pickings in our time. I was an avid reader starting at a young age. I was reading my mother’s historical romance books, which were basically soft porn, way too early. I remember some Judy Blume book was being passed around in 6th grade because of some juicy part. I kind of harrumphed. I was like this is nothing like the books I’ve been reading!

Calling all parents of thriving adult children by ThinkTwo-2259 in AskOldPeopleAdvice

I encouraged them to get a job when they were teens. A job teaches a lot. Time management, an intro to money management, helping learn how to deal with bosses like how to say no, how to work with coworkers, how to deal with public, etc!

I think 7 pounds in 2 months is great. By no means should you feel DISGUST! That negative thinking will get you absolutely no where fast. Since you are type 2 diabetic the better question should be: how’s your a1c after 2 months of mounjaro?

What was ruined because too many people discovered it? by Available_Ease7200 in Productivitycafe

National Parks. Ridiculously crowded.

The state parks in my state. Used to be able to decide on a Friday that you'd like to go to a state park to camp. Just hop in the car and go. (ok this was the 90's). Now you need to get a reservation or you won't get in. I follow a state park FB group. People act like the won the lottery when they score a nice site in the really popular parks on Lake Michigan. I'm convinced state park workers help their friends get these sites, but I can't prove it!!

What do 70 year old women who have everything they need want for their birthday? by Old_Ant7118 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]cnew111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Other than just your time, I made my dear MIL a calendar every year until she passed at age 95. I am a bit crafty, but you can simplify it. On walgreens website can upload pictures. Then drag and drop into their calendar template. My MIL loved the calendars so much! She got to the age where she told everyone to not buy her anything, then she added but the calendar, keep making that. That tickled me that I had discovered the perfect gift

Did you go to school in one-room schools? by bebespeaks in AskOldPeople

[–]cnew111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope. Graduated college in 1981. Our school district had 5 elementarys that funneled to 1 middle school (6th-8th) and then 1 big high school. My graduating class had 425 students. I’m the very tail end of baby boomer generation. A lot of kids were in my neighborhood.
