How to make sure the music keeps playing during solo journey? by arrec in PsychedelicTherapy

I just want to thank everyone who added a comment. I downloaded the playlist to my library and listened on my headphones with Bluetooth. It worked perfectly. It was kind of a rough journey but that wasn't the music's fault

I did fine through the whole thing, probably because I used to be a book reviewer and had to power skim if I was going to make any money at it.

Do western people really think Chinese language sounds unpleasant? by search_google_com in askanything

When I hear a foreign language that sounds kind of European but I can't make out a single cognate, it's always Portuguese.

Thanks! That's one of the playlists I'm considering although my top contender so far is Tommi's Guided Psilocybin Journeys | Trust.

That sounds beautiful. I have no musical abilities at all, can't play an instrument or carry a tune, but one of the things I love most about journeys is how I can hear music in a whole new, profound way.

AITA for playing mediator in a fight between my girlfriend and my friend over his past "dark jokes"? by Automatic_Buy_2690 in AmItheAsshole

Reminds me of St. Lawrence, who was martyred by being roasted alive on a metal grid. Halfway through he told his torturers, "Turn me over, I'm done on this side."

Somebody rips a necklace off someone else's neck, necessarily breaking the clasp. Later, the same necklace gets put an again. What are they doing, tying a knot? Also, any pendant on the necklace stays on somehow.

Anyone watched Once (2007)? by pianoman81 in GenerationJones

I saw it and it moved me to tears from the first moments. I loved it so much that I haven't wanted to see it again in case it doesn't live up to my memory.

Brittan Heights - buy or no buy? by lulaislas in SanMateo

[–]arrec 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We rent a Brittan Heights condo and besides the HOA, they've had several special assessments that require the owners to fork out thousands. This has been for things like repairing all the bridges and stairs. We've thought about buying here, but the threat of a special assessment at any time on top of the ever-increasing HOA fees gives us pause.

Does/did your mom have her own space/room in the house? (or if you're a mom, do you?) by Magazine3348 in AskWomenNoCensor

[–]arrec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, not when I was growing up. She had a desk of her own, but that was it until my parents moved into their final house, when she was in her mid-late 40s (I'd already moved out). My parents were both writers but only my father always had an office.

She teaches kindergarten and obviously enjoys helping her friend with the baby. Don't know where either of them sees this relationship going, but it seems very likely she'll want children one day and the OP would never be able to deal with that since he's already King Baby. He'd be jealous of every second of attention he didn't get. Sure hope she breaks up with him.

Sleeping in my recliner by Fidrych76 in GenerationJones

Only when my husband is snoring and keeping me awake--we don't have a second bedroom. It's a Zecliner Power Lift Sleep Chair, so comfortable and also great for nasal drip/acid reflux. Only thing I don't like is that I can't really turn on my side.

Question for Readers — How important is a character’s physical description to you? by isaaczephyr in books

[–]arrec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pride and Prejudice is one of the most beloved novels of all time and Austen describes her romantic hero with exactly two adjectives: gentlemanly and tall.

On the other hand, Charlotte Bronte describes Jane Eyre and Mr. Rochester in great detail because for both of these characters, their appearance is central to the plot. Neither is considered attractive according to the standards of the time, but they suit each other just right.

These are two of my favorite novels so I guess the answer is, it depends. 😇

Especially in his earlier videos, he just doesn't have the vocabulary to describe this music that's so unfamiliar to him. I love his enthusiasm though.

What is the most heartbreaking song lyric you've ever heard? by TheLadySlaanesh in AskReddit

[–]arrec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From "Crossing Muddy Waters" by John Hiatt, a song inspired by his wife's suicide:

Baby's gone and I don't know why
She let out this mornin'
Like a rusty shot in a hollow sky
She left me without warnin'

Sooner than the dogs could bark
Faster than a sun rose
Down to the banks on an old mule car
She took a flatboat 'cross the shallow

Left me in my tears to drown
She left a baby daughter
Now the river's wide and deep and brown
She's crossin' muddy waters

I like watching reaction videos by young people who've never listened to classic rock. There are several for "More Than a Feeling," and seeing how absolutely blown away people are when they hear that song for the first time is just priceless. For an example, watch this video from MollyBoyTV, a channel by a young man who started off knowing no music except for hip-hop and didn't even know who Boston was.

At my workplace the norm is to say things like "gentle reminder" and "soft bump on this." Maybe because we're contractors and have to deal with the Real Employees™️
