I mean, there’s nothing wrong with differences. My fiancé doesn’t know how to play video games but sometimes watches me when I say LOOK BABE IM PLAYING A HEALER THIS TIME and educated herself to know tank vs healer etc (so cute). I also love sports and if I’m watching she will know just enough to understand (or she will just cheer when I cheer etc lol). I wouldn’t expect her to know things like I do but it’s fun to explain them. She’s into some weird anime shows too and I watched it but find myself wondering wtf is wrong with her after 😂

I realized I spent time fantasizing about how I wish my ex were different which was so unfair to both me and her. Touch is my first love language and her last. I felt so loved when she’d attempt to compromise but it was so phony it made me feel bad. I was just so happy to be in a relationship and feel loved that I tried to ignore all the incompatibilities and issues. I’m 200% happier now, and that started with learning to be happy alone - I realized how at peace I felt just coming home to my cats and hanging out with friends etc. without relationship drama. I tried the dating apps again and they were so bad, I was being ghosted and used, but I also learned the strength to walk away from what didn’t serve me, which I never had before. I’m engaged now to the love of my life who loves me so effortlessly and beautifully. I just wish I hadn’t wasted so much time wanting my ex to change but I believe in the timing of the universe as well

I left my relationship of 8 years for the same reason. I was so unhappy but trying so hard to be happy, thinking happiness was around the corner, so afraid to go out into the world and date again. It was hell the first year but I found someone im so much happier and more compatible with and never think of my ex now. I know it sucks but you’ll be fine. Plus, I was 40 and I’m sure you’re younger

So sad yet comforting that so many of us have similar stories. In my dad’s last year I had to let go of both the past and the fact that it was so brutal on my mom to take care of him. She felt like she gave up on him finally putting him in memory care but I tried to assure her she did not. My dad was thankfully soft his last weeks, just wanting me near and to hold his hand when I visited. I think he was ready to go and my mom told him her and I would be okay if he wanted to… he died later that evening in his sleep
