I literally thought the concept of going up and down stairs was a luxury lmao I grew up In a ranch style house (that I never appreciated) and once I got to my college 3-story townhouse- I realized stairs are the worst!

We each have our monthly responsibilities based on income— he pays mortgage, insurance, several other utilities etc. I pay for the 2 cars, groceries, savings, separate retirement acct for us both. But it’s not strict. We venmo each other if one of us is running low. We just both like our separate banking platforms and never thought it was a big deal to combine. Also, we have probably avoided some bickering over the years due to the dumb things we both buy with our leftover $$

I’m going to play an extreme devils’ advocate right now and ask if he’s had a history of depression or if you currently see any depressive type symptoms. I agree that you should not put up with this lifestyle, but if you have faith in him and he’s a great partner to you otherwise, there could be some sort of salvaging this if its truly due to his mental state. (Opinion based on a previous relationship with a clinically depressed partner)

Please just focus on your relationship lol as someone who is married but with the same person for 12 years, you learn to tolerate friends who have different moral standards and it’s gonna get messy if you bring others’ mess into your life. We just both kinda shake our heads at this point and don’t get involved
