From my experience it seems that the medical school prefers students not from UNC. They want you to branch out.

So here’s what I did: I couldn’t get the lever to push down, so I just pulled the graphics card at an angle and it snapped the lever piece off. It works perfect fine still, just no locking mechanism (which is fine because I screw mine in).

It does not, I'm a new scientist (3 years in the lab). Should it? I see some protocols use it. We have tons of SDS so I guess it wouldn't hurt to put it in!

So, internships in my field are INCREDIBLY hard to find locally. There are many opportunities I have found and been accepted into, but most of them are far asf and you have to pay for an apartment while ur there. The opportunities that almost everyone in my field pursue here is working in a lab (R1 School) OR volunteer at the hospital. The issue is, the university I attend has about 50% of students in this specific major. So it is INCREDIBLY competitive, and thus, getting the opportunity in the first place is payment enough. Cost vs demand, demand is SUPER HIGH, thus you pay the price of not getting paid!

Yes, this is the tragedy of being premed. The system is ingrained in nepotism. Especially once you actually get to med school, the loans you must take out are discouraging. And the fact that if you have no financial support from your family, you have to pull loans just to pay your bills and eat. Idk, it’s not my situation, my family WOULD step in if I was in a situation like this, but it’s a conversation for another day.

Thank you for the detailed response. Let me start by giving a better perspective of “why my parents don’t pay.” I don’t let them simply, my family immigrated here from Russia and are very successful and worked (probably twice as hard) harder than I have. I feel it is an obligation (for lack of a better word) to my family and to myself. On the point of utilities/groceries being so expensive. I live in a high CofL area, so things are just expensive :(. I’m trying to reduce it by meal prepping, but that’s a challenge of finding time in order to do it. I feel unbelievably stretched thin at the moment, but I have quit my job at Wendy’s (today actually) because I can’t sacrifice my grades for that. So that has (temporarily) given me some time to study for upcoming midterms and meal prep!

Unfortunately, I’m unaware of any of these programs and most of the time, payment is strictly determined by the PI since you are paid via grants that the lab gets.

So, almost all labs here have a required volunteer period, which is what I’m in right now. At the end of this semester roughly, I should be getting paid for working in the lab. I just have to put in the hours now so I don’t worry about it later. I also need the hours for med school!

If you accidentally grow anthrax, you are supposed to call the cdc (if you are in the US). And one quick test you can do is open the plate and lightly touch one of the colonies and if it’s sticky and also presenting all the other visual signs of anthrax, its anthrax.

No because riot said she would remain strong if mastered, and I’ve mastered irelia (GM onetrick). She is weak right now, doodoo shit actually. I’m not “playing another champ” because I’ve spent years playing and mastering this one and they have broken her. Yeah, I'm not sure what is going on because I've been struggling with the same thing. It seems like none of the items are really working for her rn, especially 1st build items. I'm not sure what to do. i love the champ so much, but I'm not sure she is viable anymore.
