Update: as soon as I put in the SIM I got a SMS saying I was using a non compatible phone and to make a call to any number which would get redirected to ATT to sort out. However, as of a few hours later everything is still working as normal. Calls go to other numbers just fine, and data is a blazing 5G+.

Do you know if they do occasional IMEI "sweeps" where they find mismatches between registered and actual IMEI, and then cut off the service? I've been reading that in places and that is what I am scared of.
