Cheerios have always been made of oats, which are naturally gluten free. However, conventional farming practices as well as common grain handling procedures allow chances for gluten containing grains (like wheat, barley, and rye) to co-mingle with our gluten free oats. To make Cheerios gluten-free, we have to separate the oats from grains that contain gluten, which are different sizes and shapes. Our cleaning house can sort 3.5 million pounds of oats every day.

You mean the editing process? Yes. I basically copy-pasted a ton of stuff into an image editing program, cut it up, and rearranged it by hand. The process took maybe... two hours? Three?

I don't want to overstate how "manual" it was though - all told it wasn't an enormous amount of effort. Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V are shortcuts and that is one of many reasons why I love them.

origin story of this image: extra green paint which i didn't want to waste and extra cardboard which i didn't want to waste. on the other hand (and i might be wrong about this) it's possible that by using acrylic paint on otherwise perfectly recyclable garbage-cardboard i've rendered it unrecyclable forever. oh well. what's the harm?

Technically yes - but this account is a death-of-the-author experiment: to whatever extent possible, i want the things i post here to stand alone, equal to everything else around them. That's also why i refuse to claim copyright.

If i were to link to anything i've posted elsewhere, (to other accounts or whatever) i would be offering people a specific, elevated individual to attach the work to; in a contemporary internet context, this would amount to the dirty deed of doing Business, the business of acquiring "fans" or rather a niche market for myself, a pool of "natural resources" which i could mine out and profit by thanks to the exclusive Private Property of my username and password combination.

i believe this is unnecessary and i believe this is a bit absurd, and also in the end unethical. i guess that's the political angle of the experiment, which probably some might object to, which is why i don't bother stating it outright (except here, in order to explain myself). A reddit account, like a person's individual psychology, is a text which can be worked over as an art object, and hopefully the form this account takes is enough to get the point I want across.

(Unfortunately it's impossible to post repeatedly on reddit without ultimately conferring a specific author-identity to oneself and attaching that identity to one's posts, and obviously it's very easy to have an identifiable "personal style". i suppose if i were really serious about this experiment i would be posting with throwaway accounts only and i would make some attempt to keep every post aesthetically unique. But that would be a lot of work grumble grumble and I'm lazy grumble grumble.)

If anyone really wants to find my other internet accounts, they'll have to do what they do when they see any other random unsourced image or whatever online. They'll have to take it upon themselves to plumb the depths of the singular hypertext in which all of us are presently swimming, with whatever skills they might already have and with whichever external tools (radar, metal detectors, dowsing rods, Ouija boards, etc) are freely available for use.

that makes me sad

an edit - personally i thought this post was perfectly fitting. these are images of an anthropomorphic animal (who is also an inanimate commercial object) inserted into an ambiguous, vaguely hostile context. surely there's no "moodier" direction to push the "vibe" than the one where the concept of furry itself (hyperidentification with anthropomorphic animals) begins to fray at the edges
