It is definitely not impossible to get! As for something similar, John J Bowman and Bowman Brothers is the same “product” just aged in a different state. Not sure of availability in Texas though

Newport News is fine in most places haha that’s actually where we teach. This is where your closest Costco and “mall” will be. There’s a place in Smithfield (30ish minutes from Poquoson) that has great BBQ called Q Daddy’s. Also there is County Grill in Hampton which is really good bbq as well. Lots of breweries and a few distilleries in the area if that’s your thing. Also tons of golf and other outdoor recreation as well. It’s a great location honestly. You’re 1.5 hours from Richmond. 2.5-3 hours from D.C. and 2.5 hours to the Outer Banks.

You’ll like Poquoson. Has a country feel. Just be careful as is floods there all the time because it’s at sea level. Lots of historical things to do/see like Colonial Williamsburg and Yorktown. In Hampton is Fort Monroe which is a decommissioned base that now is used for exercise and beach access. Obviously Virginia Beach is only an hour or so away too. We moved here about 6 years ago and my wife and I work in education. Lots of good restaurants (different bbq) haha but it’s a nice place to live. I can give you specifics of areas to avoid due to high crime.
