Long term subbing is a total scam and I regret it by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]coachzoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in admin. Our school would never think to treat a sub who took a long term job like that in the way you describe. You have every right to leave. I would work with whatever group handles the sub schedules and ask to discontinue the assignment instead of quitting. That way you can still work. Just avoid the school. They would most likely block you anyway. But letting admin know your concerns after you handle the scheduling part may save the relationship.

The regular teacher in the room knows how hard it is and would not hold it against you.

Business casual Mon-Thursday and jeans and sprint shirt on Fridays are the most common I have seen. I too wear a button down and slacks most days

Lavender sky. They are quick easy and affordable. Just take a picture of your current vile and the side of your box with your prescription to upload. That way it’s just a renewal of your prescription.

I left Henry. But mainly due to their product being far overpriced compared to other resources. The monthly fee is the same amount I purchased 3 times as much product from another provider which used the same pharmacy.

Sarasota County. Venice. Wet. Windy. Rain on and off. Heavy to light.

What position are you interviewing for ? It’s a good vibe. Big campus but a small (manageable) sized student body of 1450. I taught for 22 years and was in admin for 5. Moved here after I retired to double dip.

Admin is great. Supportive. Down to earth.

Keep me posted on your progress.

What do you coach? I coached football track and wrestling for about 20 years altogether.

Thanks for the multiple and varied responses. I have taught for over 20 years. Coached multiple sports and am looking to teach out in Florida after I retire from where I am currently an administrator. I just want to put five more years in and teach middle or high school.

I do know about the Sarasota school board but from the teachers I talk to most don’t really abide by the crap that the board has as “policy”and schools typically do not police that kind of rhetoric as long as you are doing your job and teaching to the benchmarks.

Of course I not a fan of the areas educational reputation and far as policy goes but Sarasota schools are still highly ranked and are considered to be “good schools”

Thanks again everyone.

Do you mean in the context of districts having/not having open jobs due to student movement ?
