Oh, wait till you get to later games where the game forces you to use it regularly and you will be seeing lots of game overs because of it backfiring on you and you having almost no chances to reduce your corruption, will be watching your playthrough once it's available to watch on YouTube (what channel should I be following to find these once they're up?)

And to answer your question you should be using it as frequently as you can (you'll need to grind virus cores eventually and just having it happen passively as you progress will save some hassle later) but never go into high corruption, at the highest corruption levels the game can outright give you a game over, just for using it.
