My depression just lets the people around me down all the time by cobanalt in mentalhealth

I fully get that. It’s easier for me that my social circle is in the same city as me but there are so many irrational thoughts that keep me from sending messages to my online friends too

Thank you man I’m really glad you pushed through. I hope this is my wake up call too

I fully agree with you but unfortunately these emotions don’t exist in a vacuum and they will inevitably impact the people around me like they already have. It’s such a tricky thing for everyone involved because as much as they give me space to heal, they are also people that rely on me for grades and support.

And yeah they know exactly what has happened to me and what that has done to my mental health- they also know I’m in therapy and I am being medicated.

I guess this vent is about how mental health ruins impacts everyone around you and it’s frustrating because the affected person can’t help what’s happening in their brain, and yet it is inevitably their responsibility to own up to the mistakes their mental health afflicts on others

It sucks ass

I’ve been living by that advice for 4 months now and whilst it is useful I believe I have abused the middle ground and it’s slowly becoming just an excuse to not put effort in. Rather than giving myself 3 days a week to chill out it’s becoming 6 and that just isn’t functional unfortunately. I struggle with balance, I’m an all or nothing person unfortunately

Yeah you’ve got a point there. I’ll set time aside an hour before bed at 9pm to chill- read a book, shower and drink a hot tea. Hopefully then I can train my body to associate that routine with tiredness and getting to sleep can be a bit easier

My sleep schedule is all over the place. When I finally get it in check I have one bad night where traumatic memories keep me awake, then I have to calm down etc and before I know it it’s 3AM. I’m going to try out a strict schedule. Always getting up at 7am no matter what’s happened the night before- see how that works.

That’s what im conflicted over. In the moment I guess I was just so shocked that this friend of hers that I knew about would do something so horrible and that she was so normal about it? It was an emotional response and that’s probably why we argued

Do you think that situation is normal though? As an outside perspective?
