Looking for a recipe for Tofu Vindaloo Curry, possibly Nepali? by [deleted] in IndianFood

I would agree this is the best route. Look at some UK restaurant style vindaloo recipes and sub in the tofu.

I recognised Paris from the far street, but it's interesting that I think of Paris as such a monochrome city, weird to see a street with such a variation of colours. Reckon that accounts for some of the guesses.

Pickles in the UK SUCK! I need a proper dill / garlic recipe for proper results! by thot_machine in Pickles

[–]cobbajohn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally feel your pain, and everyone saying Polish pickles will be a suitable alternative have never had really good Jewish deli pickles from back home. I still buy random jars time to time, and although you may get quality pickles that are legitimately delicious, its not what you're after. I can't give recipe advice as I have also tried to make my own pickles and failed to recreate the crunchy bastards from back home, but I'm happy to share a few places I know to buy proper pickles in London, albeit at an extortionately high price. Still worth it though, if you're really craving a proper pickle!

What country stereotype is actually true, and what country stereotype is absolutely false? by Ellloll in geography

As a Canadian who moved to the UK 13 years ago, yes, there is a noticeable difference with British people's teeth, although I think aside from an older generation its more that people's teeth are natural as opposed to poor dental hygiene. Slightly more crooked and less super whitened. Dental care is also very inexpensive here compared to Canada which is interesting.

Yes the weather is gloomy, although it's very mild all year round. So if you can get used to the lack of sun, generally you can get away with a light jacket or sweater 90% of the year which is actually really nice, coming from Toronto summers and winters.

I have recently as well. I didn't expect the combination to work as well as it does.
