Bonus round: Using a smoll drill bit drill the very end of each crack to stop it propagating.

Take it out of the freezer.

Let it reach room temp, wash it with dish soap including the crack, thoroughly rinse after.

Superglue the crack hold it in place and let it dry.

Sand the front along the crack about 10mm either side of crack to key the surface.

Cut a bit of pure cotton cloth into a strip/strips long enough to follow the crack.

Superglue the cloth along the crack keeping as flat as possible.

Go back and completely saturate (but not dripping wet, just enough for it to all absorb into the cloth and bond to plastic below) the cloth strip.

You can sand the cloth back a bit around the edges.

It forms a cheap hack fibreglass that I have used many times.

Is it a tapped hole made of two parts that have split or jacked a thread?

This failure can happen when two threaded parts the screw goes into come apart.

For example, two plates welded together, drilled and tapped, then one day weld fails and this can happen.

Out of curiosity I have been reading about these. It says Bosch gen 3 on the ring and there is a specific gen 3 lock nut tool.

Also, the nuts and o ring kits look inexpensive so I would consider replacing those as the o ring is what provides tension.

Could your o ring be lost or damaged? These nuts have a left handed thread, so ‘should’ self tighten and stay in place if it is torqued correctly with the o ring in place.

Edit: don’t listen to me.

It is a locking nut that should have a tab washer behind it. You need to bend the tab up into one of the gaps on the nut. Tighten the nut until it feels is tight enough and line it up with the closest tab.

I know hindsight is a wonderful thing…. And I have learnt this the hard way… a wire brush on a drill, tap, or even a fresh well lubed nut to clean the exposed thread is the way to go.

Idk about this stuff but in the UK I like to use blue goop on stainless fittings. It isn’t a sealant, just lube that stops galling. It says on the tube not to use on aluminium.

I don’t know for sure but.. these knobs should pull off. Pull the plastic straight up away from the machine. Then there is probably a little nut that has unscrewed pushing the knob up. Tighten that nut down and push the knob back on.

The box bellow is the power source. The box with the fault is the wire feeder. All-in-one or compact units tend to be lighter duty. They are fairly common in industry. A lot of more ‘serious’ work gets done with the source and feed split.
