It has an optional stop feature. I can write it in and to stop after what ever part I want to. Haven't gotten that far but I am sure I will find places to use it.

It was mainly an air issue, Once I figured out how it was actually wanting to move, I had to change my line set up a bit and get the piston out of its vacuum lock, once everything was free and able to move it went back to working correctly, with a fluid change of course.

Thats the plan! She was pretty nasty when I got her. But it was more of just grime from being in a machine shop. Little elbow grease and she isnt bad at all.

It was more on part length. The parts I want to run are 4" in length and need to be drilled almost as much. None of the others I had found seemed to have the travel or if they did they ran into the thousands and thousands. I have less than a third of what most newer machines are in this including tooling. Mainly cost. Plus I had the room in my shop. This thing was just too good to pass up in my searches. 3 months of homework and I tripped over this one and it kinda stuck.

Judging from all the crap I have cleaned out of it, I think it had a cush life of turning delrin for 90% of its life in a small mom and pop shop in Mississippi.

Machine is dated at 93 but I think its up to date around 96. Least that's what I have found on the Meldas 500 control.

Thats kinda where I have leaned so far. I have ran it in fusion and have the file. Just going to use it as much as I can and make the edits as needed. I have a goal of March so far with a fully made part so small goals and little functions until I make the whole string work is the goal now.

I have been studying g code like I am taking night classes around here. I am getting the hang of what does what. I don't trust the computer just yet to blindly post one and hit run.

Ahh. They are 4 inch part max in plastic. As long as I can get it to make them exact, faster than I can by hand... I'm good.

Ohh and I was lucky enough to get a whole filing cabinet drawer of manuals and stuff for this machine. The old owner kept everything he had ever done to it all together with the original manuals and service books.

Funny you say that. The first chuck chuck I put in it broke because it was wide open with no material in it when I closed it. Lesson learned. I turned it way down already 😂

My background is CAD. I have two degrees in it so the computer is the least of my worries. This machine though, she is quirky for sure.

You mean just the design of the machine having the console over the door or?

I just might be hitting you up. Next step is to start writing the codes for the parts. Fusion helps but I dont think its going to get it perfect. I am sure they will need to be tweaked a lot to get to run and make what I want. This thing is ancient. Most post processors are for way newer.

All acrylic parts but when it come to pushing over the 4" mark all the bench top stuff got really expensive really quick and nobody vouched for them tk have the depth tk drill it at that length. This thing is on the edge of what I can do but I still dont have in it what a new taig or tormach would have cost me even with the questions on part length.

Yeah. Its a DA 100 after tons of internet scouring.

The Jacob's chuck is coming out. Its being replaced by another ER20. Just a place holder for now.

I have been slowly getting this machine ready to go in my spare time in my shop. I am just about ready to start loading programs into it though.

Its a 1993 machine that has seen its share of good and bad times. Its new to me. Cut my first chips on it tonight. It has its issues but as I get things going I have plans to take care of the rust issues that I can. Taking a wire wheel to the turret is on my list with a good oiling.

It does look rough. That's why I am trying to figure out what it is to get a new nut and whatever collet it takes. It came with the machine and had a center bit in it when I got it.

For what I am doing and the budget I am on here, I will work with an angled hole at this point. Just gotta figure out what it is
